CHAPTER TWENTY-THREE

11:30 PM
Gently patting Mikey on the head, you planted a kiss on his forehead and stood up from your spot.

You walked over to the door and left the bedroom.

Silently closing the door behind you, you walked along the hall to your own bedroom.

When you entered your room, you were immediately greeted by two big glowing ocean blue eyes.

"Tofuuu!!" You called out to her in a silent-shouting way.

Jogging towards her, you picked her up from the floor and threw the both of you onto the bed.

"Were you here alone for too long?" You asked while staring at her stand on top of your chest.

Tofu started meowing at you, almost as if she was complaining.

"I'm sorryyy, it must've been so lonely!!" You embraced her with a hug and flipped over to the side while also wrapping a blanket on the both of you. "Goodnight Tofu" You said, snuggling your face into her white soft fur.

She let out one last 'meow' before drifting off asleep with you.

...

*SLAM*

A loud noise came from outside, startling you and Tofu.

"What the hell..?" You sat up on your bed, rubbing your eyes as you grabbed Tofu and held her in your arms.

You went out of your room and turned a corner to the front door.

When you got there, you saw a tall black haired figure with his back turned to you with sounds of keys rattling. He was locking the door.

"Shin?" You called to him but no response.

You slowly approached him and when he turned around to your direction, your eyes widened by what you saw.

A big bruise at the corner of his right eye.

"Shin! What happened?!" You asked in a panic and worries in your face.

He stared at you for a second and clicked his tongue at you with an irritated expression plastered on his face.

He then just walked past you and went to the bedroom that you two share together.

You were still standing there at the same spot in complete shock, trying to process what just happened.

Shinichiro opened the drawers and closed them one after another, trying to find a bandaid but not a single one was found.

Suddenly, the bedroom door creaked open.

He looked over his shoulder with his eyebrows furrowed but his face quickly softened when he saw Tofu entering with a bandaid in her mouth.

She approached Shinichiro and halted in front of him. Dropping the bandaid down and stared up at him.

Shinichiro crouched down and placed his hand on her head.

A brief moment of silence engulfed the room but was then interrupted when you entered the room with a small bucket of water and a wet towel.

You didn't say anything to him. You just went up to him then went down on your knees and took one of his hand and began cleaning him up.

After a few minutes, you finally spoke up. "So, wanna tell me what happened?"

A deep sigh escaped past his lips as he averted his gaze down.

"The black dragon's were having our usual meeting" He started, "But halfway through we got attacked. It was a sudden attack so we weren't prepared."

"Attacked? Who attacked you?" You asked.

Shinichiro shrugged his shoulders. "Akuma Inu. I do remember one of my subordinates telling me that there was a 'small' disagreement between him and the members from that gang so I guess this was their revenge" He let out another sigh. "Five were severely injured so they were sent to the hospital while everyone else including me just got minor injuries

I've also heard that they're trying to aim for Japan's top. Their gang has around 500 strong men so god know what kind of hell they'll put Japan in if they do become the top." He said with a slight annoyance in his tone.

"What are you gonna do about it?"

"We're going into battle next week on the 15th behind the abandoned hospital. We're going to crush Akuma Inu." He clenched his fist, a tint of anger and rage still visible in his eyes.

You exhaled deeply while squeezing out the water from the towel and pressed it against the bruise on his face, causing him to let out a loud painful 'eek'.

"You're weak Shin" You started. He looked at you as you kept talking. "You can't even hurt a fly so you'll probably get your ass kicked by one of those guys during the battle in an instant" You stated.

Shinichiro gazed down at the floor next to him but was then surprised when he felt a pair of lips on his cheek.

"But... I believe in you. Make sure you knock those guys out cold!" You beamed with a wide grin.

A gentle smile formed on his face as he lifted up his arm and held your hand that was holding the towel.

He tilted his head to the side and kissed your wrist. "Jeez you're too honest" He chuckled softly while you laughed alongside with him.

After a brief moment, your laugh slowly died down as you looked up at him and smiled. "Also"

He stopped laughing as well and hummed a 'hm?' for you to continue.

But instead, he received a harsh whack on the head that almost sent him face first to the ground.

"Ow! What was that for?!" He yelped in pain as he rubbed his head.

"That was for giving me that attitude earlier at the front door" You said, smiling innocently at him. "The next time you give me that attitude I won't hesitate to turn your insides into outsides"

"My apologies ma'am" Shinichiro went on all fours and sincerely apologized.
