CHAPTER TWENTY-TWO

Today's the graduation ceremony for all the 3rd year highschoolers. Damn time sure flew by so fast. You're feeling kind of nervous.

You were then snapped back to your trance when you felt your hand being held.

Turning your head to the left, you saw Shinichiro sitting beside you with a smile.

He slightly tightened his grasp in a way of telling you that he's here with you.

You stared at him for a few seconds and then let out a sigh of relief and returned the smile back to him.

Then the school president finally went up on stage to announce his speech.

Walking out of the school along with the other students, you were immediately greeted by Mrs. Sano and your pet kitten, Tofu.

"Congratulations you two!" She beamed with Tofu in her arms.

You and Shinichiro chuckled and thanked her.

Mrs. Sano then handed Tofu to you which you happily accepted from her.

Tofu saw the tag representing that you graduated, attached to your uniform and started playing with it.

You giggled at how his little paws weren't able to reach the tag but she kept on swinging her paws to try and get it.

"Okay you two! Get closer to each other for a picture!" Mrs. Sano said as she took out her camera and you did as she told you to.

You moved to the side causing you and shinichiro's shoulder touching. Shinichiro then reached his hand out and swung it over your other shoulder.

The both of you grinned widely at the camera and Mrs. Sano snapped a few photos.

After the photos, you turned all your attention to Tofu and didn't even notice Shinichiro going up to his mother and whispered something into her ear.

"(Y/n) I wanna bring you somewhere" Shinichiro called for you.

You averted your gaze to him and raised a brow in confusion but ended up going with him anyway.

The two of you walked on the sidewalk not so far away from the school.

"Where are we going, Shin?" You asked curiously.

Right after you asked him the question, he halted in the middle of walking, making you bump into him.

"Isn't this beautiful, (Y/n)?" He asked.

You looked up and was amazed to see a small pond and cherry blossom trees surrounding you. Since when did this place exist?

A butterfly flew to you and Tofu reached her paws out to it.

"Shin this is..." You didn't even know what to say at this point. You were too mesmerized by the sight in front of you.

"I remember just wandering around here because I got bored one day and then found this" He exclaimed.

You walked over to one of the cherry blossom tree and gazed up at it, admiring its beauty.

But as you were distracted by the tree, Shinichiro reached his hand into his pocket and took it out.

He went up to you and embraced you with a hug from behind.

You were surprised by his sudden movements. You chuckled as you turned around to face him, "Pfft! What's up with you today?"

He averted his gaze to the ground with a soft smile plastered on his face.

"There's something I want to show you" He mentioned.

You raised a brow at him and watched as he took your right hand and slipped a silver ring into your ring finger.

Your eyes widened as you stared down at the ring.

"I know... I know. It's not like those diamond or gold rings." Shinichiro lowly said, "But I promise you! Once I get a job and have the money I'll-"

"Shin" You cut him off. "It doesn't matter what ring you give me. As long as I know you love me then that's more than enough"

Shinichiro's face softened as he held your hands. A fond smile formed across his lips.

"Well I still have one more promise I want to make with you" He said in a whispering tone.

"What is it?"

"Once we turn 20, let's get married" He blurted out. "This ring represents our promise" He flashed a genuine grin at you, also revealing the same silver ring on his finger.

He leaned down to your face as he closed his eyes about to plant a kiss on your lips but was blocked by two little paws.

The two of you opened your eyes to see Tofu standing on two feet and her front paws just covering Shinichiro's mouth.

Tofu let out a meow at him. Shinichiro held both of Tofu's paws with a pout on his face.

"That's my girlfriend! Not yours!" Shinichiro exclaimed.

You stood and watched as he began to argue with Tofu while she just let out 'meows' whenever Shinichiro finished a sentence.
