CHAPTER FORTY-FOUR

"Mom.. Dad... Noe.." You mumbled as you halted right in front of them.

Noe stared at you for a second before grinning widely at you. "Big sister!" He called out for you as he spread his arms wide open, reaching out to you.

Tears started to well up in your parents eyes as they embraced you with a big hug.

"(Y/n)!" Your mother cried same with your father. "I can't believe it's really you!"

"I'm so sorry we left you alone... You must've been so lonely.." Your father apologized.

A familiar feeling that you haven't felt for so long finally came back. Warmth.

"We're so sorry sweetie!" Your dad cried but was then cut off by the bright smile plastered on your face.

"It's okay dad, I'm home now" You exclaimed then returned the hug. "You didn't have to worry though, I wasn't completely alone. I had Shinichiro!" You said and looked over your shoulder to him.

"Really?" Both your parents turned to him and he smiled at them.

"So how did you meet Shinichiro?" You asked your parents with your little brother sitting on your lap as Shinichiro mad him laugh.

"Well Noe said that he wanted to go to the flower field and when we got there we saw Shinichiro just walking around" Your mother started. "It's been a while since we've seen anyone else so we went to talk to him"

"We introduced ourselves and immediately he said that he recognized us. He introduced himself and said that he's your husband" Your father said and chuckled. "We didn't really believe him at first until he started describing you!"

"Bleh!" Shinichiro stuck his tongue out, making a funny face at Noe.

"Haha! Big sister's husband is funny!" Noe laughed.

"We let him live with us and I gotta say, you got yourself a great husband!" Your dad stated.

"Really?"

"Yep! Me and your mother are pretty old so y'know we can't really do many things. So Shinichiro insisted that he gives us a hand. He's been really helpful! Noe likes him very much!"

You turned to Shinichiro and he looked up at you. "Is that so huh?" You smiled as you stared into his eyes. "Yeah, I guess he is great"

A faint blush suddenly spread across his face as he turned to a different direction to cover it making everyone else laugh by his reaction.

...

"Bye mom! Bye dad! And bye Noe!" You waved your arm in the air as you and Shinichiro walked along the path. "We'll be back soon!!"

"Bye bye big sister!" They all returned the wave and later retreated back inside the house.

You and Shinichiro walked for 5 minutes and then stumbled across a gas station.

This place is pretty much the same just with overgrown plants growing everywhere. There's no other people besides you, Shinichiro and your family. It kinda feels like you're in a zombie apocalypse.

"Wanna check that out?" Shinichiro asked, pointing at the convenience store that was right next to the gas station.

"Sure" You assumed that once you enter the store there wouldn't be anything accept broken walls and floors but to your surprise, there were actually plenty of food on the shelves just like your average convenience store.

Sure there were broken glass windows on the floor and some broken ceiling lights but over-all it was okay.

You looked around and found a freezer that was still plugged with an outlet.

"Hey Shin!" You called out to him and he quickly rushed over to you. "Wanna eat ice cream?" You asked and he nodded happily.

You opened the freezer then took out a (whatever flavor) ice cream then unwrapped it. The ice cream was still cold and frozen.

You moved aside for Shinichiro to get his own ice cream and he took out a cola flavored popsicle.

The two of you left the convenience store right after and continued walking.

You soon arrived at the mall.

The building looked abandoned. There were spray paints everywhere and of course, overgrown plants.

"Yikes... It looks creepy.." You stated as you hugged Shinichiro's arm tightly.

"Maybe we'll find some zombies in there" He jokingly said which made you hesitant to go in. "C'mon let's check it out!"

As soon as you stepped inside, you felt chills down your spine.

"I wanna go back!" You attempted to run away but Shinichiro was able to block your path.

"No you're not!!" He laughed as he lifted you up from the ground and carried you on his shoulder.

You struggled and shook your body around trying to get released but he just wouldn't let you go.

He kept walking deeper and deeper into the mall and eventually you just gave up trying to fight back.

Since you were being carried on his shoulder, you looked behind the two of you while he kept watch at the front so this way if anything tries to pop out then you two could alert each other.

But just as things were silent, a loud bang appeared out of nowhere, scaring the crap out of you.

"WHAT WAS THAT?!" You shouted as you looked over your shoulder to see Shinichiro laughing.

You looked at him confused for a few seconds then furrowed your eyebrows and frowned.

So he thought it was a good idea to stomp on a metal plank on the floor to scare you, knowing damn well you were already paranoid before you two even entered the building. You honestly take it back when you said that he's a great husband.

"HAHAH! Gosh I didn't expect it to be that loud!" He cackled as he put you down. "I'm sorry it was a joke!"

You whacked him on the head then grabbed his neck and shook him around. "Damn right you better be sorry!"

His laugh soon faded as he held your waist and brought you close to him. "We're all alone in this mall so you don't have to be scared!" He said as he held your hand and began walking again. "Plus even if anything happens I'll protect you—AHHH"

He screamed his lungs out as he jumped into your arms when a big piece from the ceiling dropped down and hit the floor right in front of him.

His scream almost blew your eardrums off. Who knew he could hit the Ariana Grande note?

Now you were the one carrying him in a bridal style.

"Seems like I'm gonna be the one protecting you" You giggled and he quickly let go of you, trying to think of an excuse to avoid the embarrassment.
