CHAPTER FORTY-SIX

Jolting awake, you quickly scanned your surrounding and realized you were at the hospital.

"Ah, you're finally awake"

A voice startled you, making you turn to the left and was surprised to see Wakasa sitting on a chair next to your bed.

"Everyone's been really worried about you, even your cat Toru or whatever its name is" He mentioned as he took out the lollipop stick that was in his mouth.

"How long was I out for?" You asked.

"Hm about 2 weeks" He replied then gazed at something, which made you look at the same direction.

On top of the table right next to you was overflowing with bouquets of flowers and a letter.

You reached your hand out and grabbed the letter and opened it.

Dear (Y/n) (L/n),
This is the check of the money from the agency. They said that our work was the best they've ever seen! I just want to say thank you so much for working with me. It's been a great journey! I hope you feel better soon.

After reading the letter you checked the envelope and took out a 50 thousand dollar check. You stared blankly at it for a minute before putting it back and placing it down under your pillow.

Silence then engulfed the room for a brief moment before you decided to speak up.

"Wakasa" You said his name, quickly grabbing his attention.

He looked at you with a brow raised, responding with a 'hm?'

"I saw Shinichiro" You started. "I even got to meet my family again... It all felt so real."

"You're not planning to do something crazy again once you get discharged from the hospital, right?" He asked and got no response.

Wakasa stared at you and after another minute had passed, he sighed as he put his hand into the pocket of his hoodie and took out another envelope then handed it to you. "Here this is from Shinichiro" He exclaimed then got up from his seat.

"Huh? Shin?" You looked at him confused but he just walked away to the door.

"I'll give your family a call and tell them that you woke up" He said and closed the door behind him.

You slowly opened the envelope and took out the sheet of paper and unfolded it.

As soon as you saw it, your eyes widened.

You put the paper back into its envelope then hid it under your pillow with the other letter.

But just as things were quiet and peaceful again, the door of your room was kicked open, almost gave you a heart attack by the loud slam.

You turned to the door and saw four figures standing there with teary eyes.

"Mikey Emma—"

"(Y/N)-SAN!!"

In just a blink of an eye, they came sprinting towards you and engulfed you with a big tight hug.

"You're finally awake! (Y/n)-san... You're back!" She said as tears flowed down her cheeks.

"Emma— Ouch!" You let out a yelp when Mikey started hitting you on the shoulder.

"You liar! You broke our promise!" Mikey shouted at you, confusion plastered on your face as you tried to calm him down.

"Mikey what are you talking about?!" You asked, using your arm to block his hits.

"How can you forget?!? You promised me! That night when I had a nightmare, you promised that you'll never leave me!"

You froze in shock, remembering the promise that you had made with him years ago.

"Stupid (Y/n)-san! Stupid! Stupid! Stupid!" He shouted repeatedly, still hitting your shoulder as he did so. "Did you not think about what would happen to you?! Did you not think about US?!?" Angry tears streamed down his face. "You're so selfish!—"

Mikey was then cut off when he got pulled into your arms.

"I'm sorry!" You apologized which surprised both Emma and Mikey as you held them close to you. "I-... I just didn't know what to do..! I didn't mean to hurt you two nor anyone..." A whole waterfall streamed down your cheeks as you kept on apologizing.

"Emma... Mikey... Mrs. Sano and grandpa.." You stuttered, choking on your own tears. "I'm so sorry!"

After so long, you finally let out your emotions. All the pain that you've been suffering alone in silence, it's all coming out of both your mouth and eyes.

You just couldn't hold it in any longer. Seeing Emma and Mikey in this kind of state, you knew it was your fault.

They've already lost one important person in their life. Their big brother.

You weren't the only one who was grieving over his death. They were too, in pain.

So seeing you shutting them out, it was hard for them to move on knowing that the other important person in their life wasn't going to be there for them.

But from today forward, you swore to yourself that you'll stand by their side no matter what.

You'll take care of them, just like you promised him.

a/: off topic but i'm planning to write a new book so i want to know abt ur thoughts on Izana calling y/n as 'princess' as a nickname. okay ik that sounds corny asf but just hear me out like since Izana is referred as a king and y/n is going to be someone close to him, like his daughter so he calls her 'princess'🤷‍♀️ idk i just wanna hear ur thoughts abt this bc im afraid once I write a chapter where Izana calls y/n 'princess' then someone is gonna comment 'ew' or smth
