Poonguzhali lay down on the boat. Vandiyathevan had left in search of Arulmozhi Varman. Her Athai, Mandakini had went away somewhere. Right now, it was just her.
" 🎶 Alaikadalum Oindirukka, Agakadal dhaan ponguvadhen? Nila magalum tuyilagaiyil, nenjagam than padaipadumen?
(Translation: When the ocean lies still, Why is the mind in a storm? While Bhudevi is asleep, Why does the heart skip a beat?
The birds are flying back to their nests! Archers and hunters are resting
The land and the sky are silent, Why is the doe-eyed girl's heart in a storm?
The clouds billow not, The wind comes like a breeze. Why is there a whirlwind in the maiden's heart?)
The moon was slowly coming up.
"Won't you bring the moon and show it to me like a mirror? Won't you bring the stars and adorn my hair?" She whispered to no one in particular.

Poonguzhali had met many strangers in her life. Most of those men admired her beauty, wished to posses her or sometimes even openly proposed to her (like that guy, Vandiyathevan. But she wasn't sure if he was serious or he was joking).
But the young Chozha prince, Arulmozhi Varman was different. He had stopped by her humble home. He didn't seem to fall for her beauty nor did he propose to her immediately. He was rather friendly. Arulmozhi called Poonguzhali 'Samudhrakumari'.
Poonguzhali fell in love with this prince who was handsome and perfect in every imaginable way.

But he also caused her worry.
When would he come to carry her away from this miserable world? When would both of them be alone and live a life drowned in love for each other...
Chi! He was a prince, someone who was destined to rule a vast empire, someone who was to marry some beautiful princess. Why would he ever even set eyes on a ordinary boatwoman?
But still... what if he was truly in love with her? She was.

Vandiyathevan was shocked.
Did this man just, just... give away a whole kingdom? The whole of Eezham? Did he say no to rule over such a big kingdom?
"Why did you refuse this big kingdom my prince?" He asked the prince.
"Religion should never be mixed with politics, my friend. All it causes is problems. Besides, if I accept this great empire, wouldn't it be treason?" Replied Arulmozhi Varman.
