"What demon? No. He was just an old man with a snake."
"How many old men do you ever see walking their snakes?
"Not any. But I know for sure he was no demon."
"Andromalius, I presume?"
"Yes, that was his name."
"You met the seventy-second demon of the Goetia and thought he was a mere mortal?"
"This isn't funny!" I shout when she starts laughing. "I never agreed to die."
"Don't worry. We won't let you die. At least not the rest of us. I can't speak for Fantum."
"Who's this Fantum I keep hearing about?"
"You'll know her when you meet her," Jarka says, and walks towards the wall. "I expect you'll need some time to think. Just press the coin against your face when you're ready to leave."
"Wait!"
She turns around and stares at me with her black onyx eyes.
"Explain the three levels."
"What don't you understand? I told you. They're your brothers and sisters."
"Just what I said, Jarka. I want to understand who's on which level. Like who's on the top one?"
"Rhesus null."
"That's me. And he's rhesus too?" I point to Marc.
"Yes. Anything else before I leave?"
"The second level?" I say sarcastically.
"We'll talk about that if you ever get out of here."
"Okay then. What's with these empty spots? Where are their pictures?"
"They're not important."
"Why not?"
"They live to serve you."
And with that Jarka steps through the wall; so I press the coin against my face and feel as though I'm splitting. Then like the black box, I fall in four directions and an unknown part of me follows her lead into the vast unknown.
