I don't know what to expect when the walls fall but take a deep breath and walk forward anyway. She hovers above a white room, part woman part snake, her black onyx eyes doing justice to her violet complexion, silver dusts for hair, and floats down to my section. The room is divided into four by glass walls labelled one through four. Fantum and I are at the front left in room one; and all of the Karmic Island's races bundled in the other rooms, minus their faces. She points to a red clock on the wall to our left, with a wicked grin on her face.

"Change the time!" her voice thunders.

"To what?"

"Whatever you want, of course. It's your show."

"Okay," I reply, and walk over to it.

This shouldn't be too hard, I convince myself, and then move the three hands from reading noon, and place the long hand on two, the short one on three and the second hand on eleven. Suddenly a calendar appears next to the clock, showing March. The two lights up. Now the clock starts spinning until it reads eleven o'clock. A commotion starts up in room two. Water is falling; no, rain. At first it seems refreshing, judging from their squeals of pleasure. But now they're screaming, and melting. When it's all over, white powders rise to the top and crystallize.

I turn to confront a now smiling Fantum. "What the hell just happened?"

"You made a decision." Fantum laughs. "It happens."

"You tricked me! Why would I want them dead? I don't even know them."

"Oh, that's true. You do have a point there, Mary. Well, let's change that, shall we. Do it again."

"What! No! I won't do it!"

"Just so you know. Fejj is nothing compared to me. Besides, I thought by now you'd know your place. I was under the impression that 'do as you're told' was universal language."

"Look, I didn't know them but they were still people."

"Well, if you're not a beacon for the downfall of humanity; caring too much for the innocent."

"Sorry to disappoint."

"Don't worry about me," she says in a vindictive tone.. "Worry about disappointing room three."
