The massage goes on forever then Mag places the now damaged safety gloves, stone and black bottle on her table and sends me to soak in the pool for five minutes. But the water feels different this time, almost as if it's speaking to me, encouraging me to let go of all my impurities, healing my tissues from the effects of an invasion I never knew occurred. It even makes Mag seem less of a devil when she calls me out this time, maybe because now I know her hands are the epitome of pleasure itself. She directs me to the table again then pulls out a black bottle and another pair of safety gloves. Now she squeezes gritty copper onto my breasts and begins. Oh, my goodness! I think I'm going to name her Mag-the-Greatest.
"Now comes the best part," Mag says after a while. "Go wash off and come back right away."
Best part was the only password she needed to make me rush back to her. I spent all of ten seconds in the water wondering what would come next.
"This mud is a bit new. But trust me when I say it works wonders."
"What's it called?"
"Ravana Mud Masque."
"I don't see a label."
"He didn't have the money for it," she explains.
"So it's a trial something?"
"Sort of. But his luck changed last night so I expect he'll take care of that pretty soon."
"I've been known to like a good story. I want details."
"Sure, why not. There's this guy. He sells anything you can think of. Sometimes even the things that'll never cross your mind."
"Go on. I need more details. Like where's he from?"
"Florence Street Extension. They call him the priest. Ever heard of him?"
I flinch. "Not really. I don't get out much."
"Maybe it's time you changed that," Mag says then continues her story. "Like I said, he sells little things here and there. So he sold this guy one of his oils and the guy pulled his wallet out to pay. Then the worst happened."
And Mag decides that now is the best time for a long pause.
"What? He got robbed? Tell me."
"He died."
