And what is that exactly? I don't have to wait for an answer. My shadow does anticlockwise circuits around the golden circle, entering each shen along the way and muttering something inaudible before making another round. My neck hurts following her through it all but it's done nothing for my mind. And hers is like the hostel's gate after hours, impossible to penetrate. That is until she lets me in to tell me what she wants. Again, I obey, and place the soles of my feet together then my palms too, above my head, to fit the diamond of the two largest interlocked triangles. Now it becomes clearer as her body of mists enters the circle and stands above me.

"My name is Kat," she says with the comforting voice of rain on a tin roof. "Don't be afraid. And don't close your eyes either. Let me in. It won't hurt."

Then she mounts me in the same position and throws a dark veil over our bodies until mine melts away like hers. Now I feel something tugging on my insides, pulling me out of myself from the crown of my head until I'm free. And all the beautiful energies of their haunting voices glide side by side, silken scarves in the wind; magnets that make me harmonize with them as one person. It is in this oneness that I find clarity, and the strange woman's mask falls off. It's the same Fantum they've been warning me about. Am I ready for her? I mean, what bag of tricks could she possibly have that the other seven haven't already thrown at me?
