Miyoung was a smart girl. Or at least she thought of herself to be. She also trusted herself enough to make rational and wise decisions but for some reason when it came to matters of the heart, she found herself to lose all logical thinking abilities.
It was early morning, probably no later than 9AM and Miyoung had decided to go for a run to keep herself in shape for when track season started again in the new school year.
Taehyun's offer from only a few days ago had been bothering her. It did sound rather questionable at first but after some thought, she had concluded that maybe it wouldn't be that bad to have some help. Taehyun seemed serious about this and Miyoung didn't have much of a choice than to just trust him.
So, she found herself stopping halfway through her jog and right in front of Taehyun's house. She glanced at the place from the road right in front of it with countless of doubts and even more questions whirling around her head.
Deeply inhaling, she decided to run up the front steps and knock on the door. After a minute, it seemed no one was going to open up and Miyoung was about to turn away to continue on her run when the door swung open.
A disheveled and half asleep Taehyun stood at the entrance, staring at her with half lidded eyes. "Miyoung?" He questioned, rubbing his eyes to make sure his mind wasn't playing tricks on him. "What the hell are you doing here?"
"Sorry, I know it's early but..." Miyoung paused for a moment to gather her thoughts. "The other day... Were you serious about helping me?"
The sudden question immediately woke Taehyun up as he stood up and stared at her wide-eyed. "Uhm, yeah?"
Miyoung released a breath she didn't know she was holding in. "Okay, so do you have a plan or something?" She asked.
Taehyun's eyes once again widened before he let out a groan. "Miyoung, it is 9 in the morning. I was sleeping until you showed up."
"Right, right... Sorry, I- We can talk another time." She apologized, feeling her cheeks burn up in embarrassment.
The boy sighed, "Listen, there's no plan. Just go with the flow."
"How does one... go with the flow?" Miyoung asked in return and once again Taehyun huffed out a deep breath of air.
"Miyoung. Just don't overthink it. We'll figure it out along the way." Taehyun's words seemed to have some finality in them which Miyoung could immediately sense, so she shut her mouth closed.
"Okay... Bye then. I'm still sorry for, y'know, interrupting your sleep." She sheepishly replied.
Taehyun waved her off before mumbling something along the lines of 'it's okay. bye now.'. The door shut right in her face after that.
She huffed then turned right around and continued on her run.
By the time she arrived home it was well past 10 and she was exhausted. Yeonjun and Yeseul were propped up on the stools by the kitchen counter, munching on cereal. "Hey, guys." She greeted and went straight to the fridge for a bottle of water.
"Mornin'." Yeonjun replied with a mouth full of cereal. Yeseul gave him a disgusted look but gave Miyoung a small wave as she chewed her breakfast.
Miyoung was about to leave to take a shower but their backdoor suddenly burst open. In came a terrified Beomgyu, running straight to Miyoung and hid behind her. The girl froze in place, confused by what is happening. "She's going to kill me."
The three others looked between each other, not a clue in the world of what Beomgyu was going on about. "Who?" Asked Yeseul.
"Sora! I accidentally broke her hairdryer and now she's going to kill me." Beomgyu's words had barely left his mouth when loud knocking came from the front door.
Yeonjun and Yeseul looked over at Beomgyu and then at each other, stifling their laughter. "Gyu, let go of me." Miyoung muttered to the boy but he only shook his head and hid even further behind her.
More knocking came from the door and Yeseul decided to go open it. They obviously knew who it was.
Just like expected a fuming Sora stood at the doorway. Her wet hair hung over her bare shoulders and arms were crossed over her chest. "Sora! What brings you... here?" Yeseul asked, awkwardly.
The younger girl rolled her eyes. "I know he's here." She brushed right past Yeseul and the latter swiftly turned around to send Beomgyu a look of sympathy. "Choi Beomgyu!" She yelled as she caught sight of her twin doing a terrible job of hiding behind Miyoung.
"He's not here right now. Please leave a message!" His voice sounded from behind the youngest and Miyoung cringed.
Sora clearly wasn't having it as she stormed over to Miyoung and grabbed the boy by his ear and dragged him out. "Oh, he's a dead man." Yeonjun said and Miyoung could do nothing but nod in agreement.
"Ow, ow, ow, Sora!" He whined but the girl didn't budge. It wasn't until they were out of the kitchen that Sora let go. Beomgyu was too scared to stick around and immediately bolted out of the house again. Sora huffed before turning back to her three friends all staring at her.
"What?" She spat out. When no one dared to answer, she sighed again. "Can I just use one of your hairdryers. I'm already running late."
"Sure. You can just dry your hair here." Sora thanked Yeseul before the girl left for upstairs and Miyoung right behind to finally go take that shower.
Sora was about to follow after them but Yeonjun got ahold of her wrist first. It felt like the skin under his fingers were burning yet Sora couldn't bring herself to tear herself away from him.
"Where are you heading?" His question was so simple yet she found it difficult to answer. Did she really want him to know the truth?
"Just out." She stated. Yeonjun raised an eyebrow in question but that question never followed.
"Uhm... Okay, then. Have fun." He let go of her arm, allowing Sora to walk away. "You look pretty with wet hair, by the way." She heard him mutter quietly but she chose to pretend she didn't.
The last thing she needed right now was for him to make her feel all fuzzy and confused again.
