Miyoung and Kai laid lazily on the couch, scrolling through their phones out of boredom.
Kai suddenly sat up and dropped his phone onto the couch next to him. Miyoung raised an eyebrow and Kai groaned. "So many couples on my for you page."
Miyoung giggled before shutting her phone off. "Couples are the worst." Miyoung agreed yet a small smile played on her lips.
"I'm bored." Kai finally spoke both their thoughts. There was no one in the house. Yeonjun went to Soobin's, Yeseul went into town and her parents were working. So, she invited Kai over, but she felt bad that she didn't have anything fun to offer him.
Luckily, like the universe sensed their boredom, Miyoung's phone suddenly rang. The caller ID showed Beomgyu's contact and immediately she picked up, putting the call on speaker. "Hello?"
"Hey, Mimi. Are you home?"
Miyoung glanced over at Kai and then replied, "Yeah, I am. Kai's here too."
"Perfect! Do you guys wanna come over? We're going to swim."
"Oh, I'm not really in the mood for swimming." Miyoung replied before looking over at Kai.
"I'm definitely down for swimming." Kai answered.
"Alright. So, a definite no from you, Mimi?"
"Yeah, sorry, Gyu."
"No worries. See you soon, Kai. Bye, Mimi."
Beomgyu hung up the phone and Kai immediately got up. "I'm going to go home quickly and then head over. Are you sure you don't want to come with?" Kai tried again, but Miyoung shook her head with a smile grazing her lips. "See you later!"
Miyoung followed him out and then closed the door. Then leaning against the door, she stared into the rest of the house. She was all alone now and was starting to wonder if maybe she should've agreed to go with. Shrugging the feeling off, she went into the kitchen to see if there was anything that interested her. A can of Sprite was unfortunately the only thing that appealed to her.
Miyoung was about to take a seat on the couch again when a knock sounded from the front door. Strange, she thought. Everyone else was out and her brother and Yeseul would use their keys to enter if it were them.
Opening the door, it revealed Taehyun standing on the other side. The boy had his hand raised like he was about to knock again, but instantly dropped his arm when he saw Miyoung's confused gaze. "Hi?" She greeted.
"Hey," Taehyun started. "I heard you weren't coming over, so I thought I'd come to you instead." He then looked into the house, waiting for her to invite him in and Miyoung immediately stepped aside to let him in.
"Oh..." She paused as her eyes followed him in. "You want to hang out with... me?" She slowly asked, almost like she was still trying to explain it to herself.
Taehyun hummed. "I wouldn't go as far as to use the words 'hang out', but I figured I'd come ask you how things are going?" Miyoung's face contorted into a confused one. "With Soobin, I mean."
Her lips formed an 'o' and then led Taehyun to the living room. It was rather awkward being alone with him since it wasn't like they were exactly the closest of friends.
"So?" Taehyun urged and Miyoung caught on.
"Right, uhm... I don't have much to share to be honest. I don't know how things are going. If they're even going..."
"What do you mean?" He asked.
Miyoung hesitated for a brief moment but thought fuck it and dropped her hands into her lap. "It's like... We talk and he's so nice to me, right? But then again, I don't want to read too much into it since it could be because he's just a friendly guy? Y'know?"
Taehyun let out an airy chuckle, "I do not."
"So, you've never liked someone like this before?"
"I don't think I've ever really liked someone." Taehyun replied, trying to remember a time where he was genuinely interested in someone to this extent.
Miyoung gasped, a hand covering her mouth. "Really? Having a crush is such a vital part of growing up and you missed it!"
"Uh, I don't think it's that big of a deal..." Taehyun muttered, not really liking how much she's overreacting about this. "Could we maybe change the subject?"
"Oh, yeah. Sorry for being weird." Miyoung then jumped up and ran to the kitchen. "Sprite?" She yelled from the other room.
"Sure!" He yelled back and then Miyoung came back, handing him the can. "Thanks. Now, continue what you were talking about earlier."
Miyoung thought for a moment, "Oh, right. We text sometimes but not all that much. But like I said, he could just be friendly."
Taehyun slowly nodded along as she spoke. "We'll need a new game plan."
"Game plan?" Miyoung questioned.
"Yeah, I'm trying to be your wingman here, Miyoung. Keep up."
Miyoung giggled. "Sorry, sorry. So, do you have any ideas?"
"I think I might, but I want to talk to Beomgyu first."
"You're getting involving Beomgyu in this too?" Miyoung frowned.
"If you're not comfortable with that, I won't. But it would be a bit hard without his help." Taehyun explained.
Miyoung immediately shook her head. "No, it's fine... But seriously, why are you doing this?" She asked.
Taehyun shrugged his shoulders. "I already told you. I'm tired of watching you embarrass yourself. You are quite pitiful, Choi Miyoung."
"Oh, shut up." The girl laughed before hitting Taehyun with one of the throw pillows on the couch. His blank expression quickly turned into a bright one as he grinned when she laughed at his remark. There was a short silence after that and Miyoung was contemplating whether she should ask him about what she's been burning to ask.
"Can I ask you a question?" Taehyun hummed, eyebrow quirking up in question. Miyoung swallowed once to build up the courage to ask but she didn't want to upset him. "I know it's none of my business, but I couldn't help but notice the tension between you and Yeseul." Taehyun immediately broke eye contact with her and Miyoung wanted to kick herself. "I'm sorry, I- I shouldn't have pried."
"Yeah," Taehyun spoke softly, "You shouldn't have." He then started getting up and Miyoung knew she had ruined the mood. "I should get going. I'll let you know when I've spoken to Beomgyu."
Miyoung then watched him leave her house and her head dropped once she heard the door close. She shouldn't have brought it up. Especially because they seemed to have finally become somewhat of friends. Now, she sent them right back to square one.
