Taehyun huffed in annoyance. This girl was a pain to get rid of. She's like a pest that comes back no matter how hard you try to get rid of it. He didn't understand what Beomgyu saw in her in the first place. She didn't even seem like his type. But then again, anything was possible with Beomgyu.
He rolled his eyes, making sure the girl was gone before turning around to head back inside. Truthfully, he was a bit reluctant. He wasn't enjoying the party at all. Plus, he has no idea where Miyoung is.
As much as it confused him at first, he quite enjoys talking to her. She was slowly becoming a good friend. He'd never admit it out loud though.
It took him one look at the raging party inside for Taehyun to make a turn. He knew the Choi's had a porch at the side of their house with a porch swing. He'd probably just hide out there until he could leave.
He was surprised though when he saw a figure already occupying one half of the porch swing. He soon realized it was Miyoung sitting there and relief washed over him.
"Why are you sitting out here all by yourself?" He asked as he slipped into the seat next to her.
Miyoung glanced over to him briefly and smiled small before resting her chin back on her pulled up knees. Taehyun frowned. She wasn't being herself. "Hey, what's wrong?" He asked again.
"Nothing." She spoke softly, continuing to stare into nothingness.
"Well, I can see you're sad, but I won't pester you about it." He slowly got up again. "I'll go, if you want to be alo—" He hadn't even gotten the last word out yet when Miyoung snapped her eyes toward him and grabbed his hand.
"No, please stay." She pleaded and Taehyun had to remind his lungs to take deep breaths as he looked into Miyoung's brown eyes. "I-I mean, it's lonely sitting on my own. And I doubt you want to go back to that stuffy party. S-so, you can just stay here."
"Okay." Taehyun said softly as he took his seat again.
There was a comfortable silence between them now. Both just staring into the darkness of the night. Taehyun would steal small glances at her ever so often, like he was making sure she was still there. He'd almost feel happy every time he saw her still sitting in the same place as a few moments before.
He almost didn't notice that she was still holding his hand until he felt her fingers shift to lace through his. The action made his body grow warm. He couldn't help but wonder if she felt just as strange as him. But then again, this was most likely something casual. Two friends comfortably sitting in each other's presence. Miyoung did like Soobin after all.
"Hey, Tyun?" The boy hummed in response. "Do you ever think how much different things would be if I didn't leave?"
The question had him slightly confused and definitely caught off guard. "What do you mean?"
Miyoung finally faced him, except her eyes displayed pure sadness. It was a contrast to her usual bright smile and happy demeanor. "Do you ever wonder about things? Like would we have become friends earlier on if I stayed? Or would we still hate each other?"
"I don't hate you, Miyoung." He chuckled. "I never did either."
"It felt like it though." Miyoung was back to propping her chin up on her knees. "Y'know, I regret accepting that scholarship."
This piqued Taehyun's interest. "Why? Because you miss my lovely company?"
Miyoung laughed at this, smiling but it still didn't quite reach her eyes like usual. "No, idiot. I just don't like it there. I've been lying to everyone about how much fun I'm having there. When in reality, I have no friends there. No one wants to be friends with the charity case."
