It was supposed to be a fun night. They were having their regular movie night and this time it was at Soobin's house. But instead of being excited for the evening, Sora was feeling quite dejected.
Never in her entire 18 years of life did she think that she'll have to try to avoid both Choi siblings. But there's apparently a first for everything.
"Sumin almost took Winnie with her. She claims that she loves him more than I do. Which is a lie, by the way." Yeseul spoke as she sat cross-legged on Soobin's couch, speaking to the boy as they both played with the guinea pig she brought along.
Soobin laughed. "You guys are already fighting like a married couple."
Yeseul blushed. "Yah! We're not even dating." She slapped Soobin's arm, only earning another laugh from the boy.
Sora was crouched at the back of the same couch, her head propped on top of her arms as she half listened to their conversation. Since Soobin's house was open plan on the bottom floor, she could still see Yeonjun in the kitchen trying to throw popcorn into Beomgyu's mouth. And on another couch, Miyoung was playing some board game with Taehyun and Kai.
This was perfect for her if she just stayed right where she was and they stayed where they were. She was not going to ruin her already dispirited mood even more.
"Uh, Sora," Yeseul suddenly broke her out of her thoughts. "Incoming..." She whispered, tilting her head subtly.
Sora was confused at first until she saw Miyoung walking towards them. Her eyes widened and in her horrible attempt to hide, her foot slipped out underneath her and she fell flat on her butt. "Ouch..." She muttered to herself.
Then a hand was outstretched towards her. It belonged to Miyoung, not surprisingly. Sora glared at Yeseul and Soobin as her older friends only stared at her. "Thanks." She said as Miyoung pulled her up.
"No problem." Now the two stood awkwardly in each other presence but still with Yeseul and Soobin as their audience. "Hey, uhm... Could we maybe talk?"
Sora glanced at the younger before hesitantly nodding her head. She followed the other to the dining room attached to the kitchen. Sora watched as Miyoung nervously rubbed her hands together, waiting for her to speak.
"Right, so..." She started. "I'm so sorry for what happened the other day. I didn't mean to make you feel like you did something wrong. I had no right to be upset and be so mean to you."
"No, it's fine. I wasn't exactly expecting an ecstatic reaction." Sora sheepishly admitted.
Miyoung smiled. "I don't have a problem with your feelings, just to be clear. It's none of my business, anyway and I know this goes without saying, but I approve of you for him."
Sora snapped her eyes to Miyoung's. The younger still smiled softly as she spoke. Her words felt sincere—not like she was forcing herself to say them for the sake of their friendship or anything. "Really?" Sora cautiously questioned.
Miyoung chuckled as she placed a hand on her friend's shoulder. "Of course. God knows that idiot could do with someone like you. That's if you guys ever start something, of course. But I'd appreciate you keeping him in check sometimes."
"I already do that." Sora rolled her eyes, but laughed as well. "But... thank you for, y'know, saying all of that. I thought you hated me."
"That's crazy talk. But I will if you don't tell me all the details later on. I wanna know how this even started." Miyoung playfully swatted the older's shoulder as Sora's cheeks coloured pink.
