That night as Sora laid in bed, she once again couldn't fall asleep. She's been having several restless nights like these. Sora just couldn't seem to shut her mind off as she had so many things occupying her thoughts.
How did she end up in this mess? She couldn't possibly blame anyone but herself. But still the thought of losing a close friend of many years for such dumb reasons gnawed at her. What was she meant to do?
Sora threw her comforter over her face and groaned. Why, just why did she have to be so damn stupid? Clearly, she wasn't thinking straight when she confessed her feelings to Yeonjun. The memory of his reaction was practically carved into her brain now. He didn't say a word. A silent rejection, if anything. Which she figured was fine, because it wasn't like she thought he would reciprocate her feelings anyway, but still a part of her hoped that he could've reacted better.
Now, the two of them were stuck with this awkward tension between each other and she hated it.
Yeonjun had told her many times before that he hated fighting with her, but this wasn't even a fight. There was simply just nothing she could do to change anything. The truth was out and as much as she wish she could, she couldn't turn back time.
Sighing heavily, she reached for her cellphone on her bedstand. Her screen flashed 1:27AM. Yeah, she definitely wasn't getting any sleep. She sat up straight, her comforter tucked under her arms. With her eyes still glued to her screen, she wondered what would happen if she just messaged or called Yeonjun right then. Would he be awake too? The thought of him also thinking about her comforted her but that was simply wishful thinking.
But then her phone screen lit up and her eyes widened. Someone was calling her. Yeonjun was calling her. At 1:30AM. She threw her phone to the other side of her bed in shock and looked around her room like there were cameras hidden somewhere. Witchcraft has to be the only possible answer. Did she summon Yeonjun or something?
She flinched when her ringtone played again, instantly bringing her back to reality. Oh, right. He was actually calling her.
"Hello?" She answered after a beat.
At first there was no answer, but she still knew he was there. "You answered." She heard Yeonjun's faint giggles in the background.
"Yeonjun, are you drunk right now?"
Again, there was a pause. "Maybe..." He giggled again. "Okay, yes, a little bit. But I miss you." Sora didn't know it was possible to hear a pout but she knew damn well he was pouting on the other end.
"I don't have time for this, Yeonjun." She sighed out and hung up the call without another thought. Immediately, she felt bad, because what if he needed her help or something? She wanted to call him back, but he beat her to it.
"Soraaaa... Why did you hang up?" Before she could answer, he had said something else that alarmed her. "I'm outside. Could you open up for me?"
"What?!" Sora exclaimed, but quietened down as she realized it was literally past midnight. "You're here?" She heard him hum and then rushed to her bedroom window. Surely enough a figure stood there. Fuck, in any other case this was kind of creepy, but she needed to get him inside before one of the neighbours call the police on him.
Sora tried to go downstairs as quietly as possibly without waking her parents up. Luckily, Beomgyu was at Soobin's or else her brother would've heard the commotion. Since where Yeonjun was stood, he was closer to the backdoor by the kitchen, so the girl unlocked that door and peeked outside. "Yah, Choi Yeonjun!" She called out as quietly as she could. Thankfully, he could hear her and smiled as he walked closer.
