"So, I was thinking we go there. Don't you think it'll be fun?" The boy spoke before glancing over to Sora.
The two were sitting in a restaurant, another one of their "dates" but unlike the other ones, Sora didn't seem too into this one. Chan noticed that she wasn't herself and tilted his head to try and gain her attention.
Sora slightly jumped in her chair when she noticed him watching her expectantly. "Ah, I'm so sorry. I don't know where my mind is today." She smiled sheepishly in his direction but inside she was cringing so hard. She knew damn well where her mind was. The same place it's been since last Saturday night.
Sora had to fight the urge to scream her head off everytime the mental image popped up in her head. What was Yeonjun doing to her? Whatever magic spell he cast over her, needs to be removed immediately.
"Sora?" Chan spoke again. Oh, right. She forgot about him... again.
"Yeah?" She questioned back.
Chan chuckled. "Are you okay? You seem weird today."
"Me? Oh, yeah! I'm totally fine. I don't know what you're talking about." She plastered on a wide grin. This is so awkward...
"Okay..." He trailed off as his eyes flickered down to the glass in his hands. "By the way... I've been meaning to talk to you about something."
Sora watched him closely, noticing how his demeanor suddenly changed. He seemed nervous now. She wanted to sigh. She was being horrible to him today.
"We've been seeing each other for a month now and we talk every day... And I want to be honest with you because I don't know if it's clear enough, but I like you. A lot. And I'd really like to date."
Oh, God, no. She didn't want this to happen or at least not this soon. Honestly, she should've seen it coming. Who wouldn't? But she couldn't lie to him either.
"Listen, Chan. I—"
"Let me finish, please." Chan intercepted. "I'd really like to date you but I don't think it will work."
Wait, what? Sora frowned. What was happening?
"When school starts up again, I'll be really busy as this year will be very crucial for my dancing career. As much as I like you, I don't think a relationship will be good for me. And... and I don't think it's what you want either."
Sora flickered her eyes to him and Chan smiled small at her. "That's... You're right." She shyly admitted, her hand shooting up to rub the back of her neck.
"I know." He still smiled, except it strangely widened while not seeming like it was sincere at all. "I like you, but you... don't like me."
Sora immediately looked away in embarrassment. It was that obvious? And now she felt extremely guilty because Chan was being so kind about it. "You're a really nice guy, Chan. And I really like hanging out with you. It's just... I really don't think I can give you more than friendship."
"And I'd love to be just friends with you. It's a great honour just knowing you already."
Sora blushed at his words. "Don't be dramatic." She giggled and Chan simply grinned, feeling accomplished that he made her laugh. Once, Sora calmed down, she finally met his eyes again. "I'm sorry if I was leading you on. It's just—It's just that I thought that seeing someone would do me good. But clearly, it didn't. I'm really sorry."
"You shouldn't be sorry, Sora." He reassured her, but she couldn't even meet his eyes. She felt too ashamed. "You can't tell your heart what to feel."
Sora glanced up to him, his words striking something inside of her. Was it possible that he knew that her heart actually belonged to someone else all along? But even so, he made a good point. She couldn't change her feelings no matter what she did. She's long accepted that she's in a losing game.
