chapter 104

The baby cries as the nurse picks her up. Meredith sobs, laying back onto the bed. "You did it baby" I kiss her head softly. She chuckles tearfully.

They bring the baby over. "your daughter.. congratulations" the nurse says. "Its a girl" meredith smiles at me. I smile hugely, kissing her softly. We look down at her.

"She's so.." she trails off. "Ugly" I say. "Yeah" she laughs tearfully. "She looks like you" I say. She glares at me. I chuckle.

"Its just the blood.. she's beautiful really" I whisper. "Yeah, she is" she says tearfully. I tilt my head, resting it ontop of hers.

"What do you want to name her baby?" I whisper. "Its between two.. isobel or lilia" She says. I stroke the baby's head with my thumb. "Babe?" She asks. "You want me to choose?" I ask. "Of course" she smiles.

"I like Lilia" I say. "Wrong" she says. "I'm gonna strangle you" I say. She giggles. "I'm just kidding.. lilia it is" she smiles. I smile.

She budges over slightly so I can sit down. "Do you want to hold her der?" She asks. "No I'm scared" I say. She chuckles. "You're never scared" she says. "But this is our baby" I say.

"Its okay sweetheart, just hold her" she whispers. I carefully pick her up. She smiles, taking a picture on my phone. I just look at her.

"Come here" meredith says. I cuddle next to her as she wraps her arms around me, resting her head on my shoulder as we both look at lilia.

"Why don't you get some sleep darling? You must be exhausted" I say. "Will you take care of our baby?" She cuddles her face into my thigh as she lays down. "Yes" I smile.

About an hour later she walks up and I'm still next to her. "Hey" I smile. "Hi" she says, sitting up.

"I think she wants feeding" I carefully hand her to her. "Can you?" She looks at her boob. I smile, pulling the hospital gown down for her. The baby latches on.

"Derek I'm doing it" meredith says enthusiastically. I chuckle softly. "Well done baby" I kiss her cheek a bunch of times.

She brestfeeds for about 45 minutes before she stops latching on. Meredith pulls her gown back up and passes me the baby again.

She kisses my arm, watching me as I watch lilia. A nurse comes in. She tells us she needs to take the baby for some tests.

I pass her to the nurse. "I'm just gonna check everything is okay with you too, whilst she's gone" a doctor walks in.

I look back and forth between the baby and meredith. "Go with the baby, I'm fine" she chuckles, putting her hand on my back. I get up. I lean down and kiss her softly.

She gasps as the nurse takes the needle out of her hand. "Be gentle with her idiot!" I look at her. "Just go baby" meredith smiles.

I go with lilia as they do some tests to make sure she's okay. I answer a few questions aswell and we go back to the room.

"Where is she? Did they take her?" I look around the room frantically as I see meredith isn't in bed. "I'm here baby" she chuckles, coming out of the bathroom.

I walk over to her, putting my hands on her waist. "Its actually a blood bath down there.. look at the pad they gave me to wear" she shows me a new one. "Its like a diaper" I say. She nods.

I help her sit back onto the bed. The doctor comes in and discharges her and lilia.

Meredith gets in a wheelchair with the baby In her arms. I grab all of our stuff. We go to the exit.

"Oh, baby I'm so sorry.. I told security to get rid of them" I say as we see the paparazzi outside. Normally the paparazzi doesn't really bother us, but they all want to see the next in line for my role I guess.

"Its okay.. I dont want them to see lilia, though" she says. I grab a blanket and drape it over her. Meredith makes sure she's okay under there as we go outside.

The flashes start and my security try to keep them all back. We get to the car and I help them in before getting in myself. The driver starts the car.

I pull the blanket away carefully. I smile as I see lilia still asleep. I kiss her head. We put her in her new clothes so she's wearing a pink onesie and a small pink hat to keep her warm.

"Meredith" I say. She looks at me. We both smile. "I love you both so much" I whisper. "Me too" she whispers. I kiss her deeply.

We pull away slowly. Lilia looks just like a mixture of us both. I hope she gets mostly merediths genes though. She has her green eyes and a small button nose, but she definitely has my hair... and loads of it.

I gently pull off her hat, looking at her small little brown hairs on her head. I rest my head against merediths. She smiles, cuddling Into me. We arrive home, with the new addition to our family. Our baby. Lilia Rose shepherd.
