3.14. Shu Amiguchi's Dream: Last Line Of Defense Broken

Amiguchi saw a destroyed building.
A couple of destroyed roads.
This place was already in ruin.
He saw a destroyed Sentinel that lost the bottom half of itself.
He saw someone on top of it that seems to look like him.
"He" was now alone after losing 'her'.

This boy and a woman that took the older appearance as Iori was repairing his Sentinel for the last jump.
To where?
To another timeline.

Amiguchi?: "It's hard to use this Sentinel with the legs missing..."
Amiguchi?: "Guess that's it for the Type-98 bipeds... turned out to be pretty useless in close combat. Wish we had some arms. Maybe then we would've stood a chance. A big metal weaponized punching arm... would've been great."

Amiguchi?: '(T/n)... I'm sorry I wasn't able to keep our promise as I said I would... I'd said I would protect this place just for you, and look at it now... there's nothing to be seen now.'

Iori?: "Hopefully Kisaragi and the others managed to escape safely."
Iori?: "As long as they make it to the shifter gate, they should be okay."

Amiguchi?: "You realize how far we are from that gate, too far for us to make it."

Iori?: "Don't give up yet. Can you check that 98 over there? Pop the maintenance hatch. We're not out of options just yet."

Amiguchi?: "You really think there's a point in fighting anymore?"

Iori?: "No fighting. Escaping."

Amiguchi?: "..."

This timeline was on the verge of destruction.
If they can just at least make it out of there and go to the next timeline, they would have a better chance to stopping it in the next line of time they shift to.

Amiguchi?: "Right! It was through shifting that we got the 98s into this era. So it could be linked through a shifter! It might get us out of here."

Iori?: "I've already input the shift coordinates. You disengage the auto control system and switch to manual."

Amiguchi?: "Where are you going?"

Iori?: "We're going to need more power if we want to jump. I'll see if we can get it out of the downed 98."

Amiguchi?: "A direct feed, huh...?"

Moments later...
Amiguchi?: "Looks okay. Basically everything's operational aside from the legs..."

RUMBLE! RUMBLE!
RUMBLE! RUMBLE! RUMBLE! RUMBLE!
RUMBLE! RUMBLE! RUMBLE!

The rumbling was uncontrollable.
It might have shaken the world's crust itself.
It was getting bad for the both of them.
They knew they have to escape now.

Amiguchi?: "Hey, you might wanna hurry up! Things are getting bad out here!"

Iori?: "They've taken the last mainframe. We've lost... but it's not over yet. Listen. I've got just enough power to send you. As soon as the system's ready, you'll need to shift."

Amiguchi?: "What are you saying?!"

Iori?: "No time left. Can't make it back."
Iori?: "..."
Iori?: "16 years ago, (Y/n) and I will be on Sumire Bridge. Find us, and tell us everything. Next time, Ida-kun... I know you'll find a way..."

Ida: "No... Ms. Morimura!"

He had no time left to mourn.
He had no time to stand around.
He had to go into the Sentinel and quickly shift as soon as possible.
This timeline that used to be peaceful was invaded by Kaiju.
Wrecked to shreds, pieces, and destroyed.
And now that the last mainframe has been taken over, this timeline is no more...
it's now completely demolished.
