"Holy shit."
Mina sat across the table from you in Monarch's kitchen with her dark eyes popping out of her skull. "That's so romantic..."
You'd just told her what happened last night - most of it, anyway. The original plan was to seek Monarch's guidance about your fake - not so fake, at all - bird boyfriend, but he was mysteriously absent. Hornet tried lending an ear earlier, but after two seconds, he shook his head and suggested a committed harem.
So, it was just you and your interns, Mina and Monoma, who showed up with papers for you to sign from their work studies. The drama, however, interested Mina a lot more.
She sighed and melted in her seat. "I'm double biased because Shinso's a UA boy and you have so much history, but Hawks is Hawks... ugh! I can't decide!"
Monoma crossed his arms, taking the seat next to you. "Shinso's too cool to be all clingy like this. Just let the fish off the hook."
"Hey!" Mina snapped, "Firstly, who asked you? They're Shinso's feelings, he can do what he wants with them. And shouldn't you have left a while ago?!"
Monoma had a point. It felt strange keeping one foot in Shinso's door. The whole harem option felt too self-serving and chaotic. Asking all the loves in your life to share?
You shivered.
They'd kill each other...
Speaking of other lovers. It was too quiet at the greenhouse without Heller and the other cultists. They'd already moved out, and as much as you wanted to see their new accommodations, you didn't want to hear Heller's opinions about Hawks again.
You liked Hawks...
You more than liked Hawks.
The pain in your chest since he left last night was evidence enough. You were anxious about your next encounter. Would he realize that you were too young - too naive to be taken seriously?
Now that sex was out of the way, was the magic of the conquest over?
No...
He was cocky but not cruel.
You tried your best not to think about it, at least while you still had company over. Hawks having second thoughts would make perfect sense. And yet, you kept checking your phone, hoping for even a silly emoji from him.
"You probably need Monarch's signature too, huh?" You asked them, "Sorry he's not around."
"It's okay! I love seeing my girl anyway." Mina gave you a big smile before glaring at Monoma again. "It would be better if it was just the girls..."
"I still have the wig?" You offered. Monoma's complexion darkened.
"You're just intimidated by my versatility!" He exclaimed, "I'm both beautiful and handsome. Next to me, your entire class looks like a bunch of sad potatoes."
"... Still confused why you're still here, but okay. Anyone want snacks?" You offered your "guests" what Monarch had in his fridge and pantry.
"Yes please!" Mina raised her hand. "(Y/N), our popularity has been crazy! I don't think I could've scored a mission as epic without your help. Now that it's all over, though, that was really freaky! Seeing those girls locked up like that... I get nightmares."
Even Monoma had no smart-ass retorts to that. "At least they're safe now."
Mina begrudgingly nodded. "I can't believe that icky Izaya guy was threatening Kaminari and his family... I'm still processing everything you guys told us from Christmas."
