yeah, hey hi, whats up? if you need me, i'll just be in the land of denial and delusion until further notice because what I saw.....yeah, i can't accept that. so i'll just keep writing in my delusional, happy little bubble. 🥲

Olivia and Simone were standing in the spacious bathroom of the James' master bedroom and staring at each other blankly. The showdown had been going on for about five minutes with no signs of either party backing down. The box on the counter to the right of them sitting there, adding to the tension.

After finally deciding that she couldn't take the silence anymore, Olivia spoke up. She was gonna end this once and for all.

"Simone. I have been pregnant twice before, I know when I'm pregnant and I'm telling you that I'm not. I don't need to take this." Olivia's head couldn't roll further back if she tried. Simone met her stare and and showed not a single hint of weakness or concession.

Trying to convince her lovely, well-intentioned (though at the moment, very aggravating) sister-in-law that she wasn't pregnant was becoming a job in and of itself. After all, Olivia knew her body and knew that there was no possible way that she was pregnant. Her and Spencer had perfected the natural birth control method. She tracked when she was ovulating and they both always remained alert enough for him to pull out in time.

Most of the time.

Like 75% of the time.

Okay fine, with a few slip-ups here and there and knowing deep down that if another baby happened sooner than they planned, they would welcome it completely, Olivia and Spencer continued on their merry way.

That was until Olivia started feeling sick and thought it would be a good idea to confide in Simone that she wasn't feeling well. It was when Simone joked that Spencer probably knocked Olivia up again now that their youngest was going into school, that the realization that her period was late hit Olivia like a ton of bricks. She wasn't going to admit that though. After all, having two kids under the age of 8 already, Olivia had wanted to wait another year or so to get them both settled into school and a routine before adding to their family. But not one to sugar coat, Simone oh so gently pointed out that she was an idiot if she thought the pull and pray method was gonna be on her side this time.

Mentally kicking herself and not wanting to admit defeat, Olivia cracked even further. "Fine, I will take it. Just to prove to you that once again, I'm right and you're wrong. There's no possible way I can be pregnant."

"Okay, if you say so Miss Big Shot."

"Mrs. Big Shot to you, thank you very much." Liv playfully scoffed.

Playfully rolling her eyes at her sister-in-laws antics, Simone decided to be kind and take one for the team. "Whatever, girl. You know what, as a sign of solidarity, I'll take one too. That way if you're not, we can be not pregnant together."

"Are you serious?" Olivia squinted.

"What?" Simone questioned. It seemed perfectly logical to her.

"How does that even make any sense?" Olivia's faced scrunched.

"Um, clearly if you're not pregnant, the test will say the same thing mine will: not pregnant. Think of it as emotional support."

"That's weird."

"Olivia Renee, if you don't just take the damn support and take this test." Simone gritted out.

"Jeez, fine, I'm going." Olivia lifted her hands in surrender and reached over for the test and headed in to the bathroom, the butterflies in her stomach going into overdrive. She came out, putting the test on the counter and turning her body away.

Simone went in and took hers then returning, laying her test on the opposite side of the counter. As they waited for the results, the silence became deafening. Excitement, nerves, joy and concern all mixed in the both of their minds. It wasn't until the alarm on Olivia's phone went off that they decided to face their fate.
