"I don't know why you're so nervous. We've been together for 6 months. I think it's time that I met your family and you even agreed." Alexis let out in a frustrated tone.

"I know, I know. It's just that I haven't ever brought a girl home before. My sisters can be a bit...intense. I just don't want them scaring you off." The young man defended. He wasn't lying. Between his older sister's sharp tongue and his little sister's FBI level investigation skills, he lived in a state of keeping more serious relationships at arm's length from them. The NFL life wasn't for everyone so he never saw the point in settling down or introducing someone if it wasn't going to last.

Though he had a great example in his parents, he always felt they were the exception and not the rule. But going into his third year in the League, he was sure that Alexis was in it for him and not the usual clout chasing that came with dating as a pro-athlete. He allowed his siblings and even parents to joke about his dating life and think of him as the young, single athlete who wasn't going to settle down. It made life easier. That was until he met Alexis at a charity event, 7 months ago.

He had seen her and was immediately drawn to her. The passion for what she believed in and grounded demeanor she always carried quickly stole his heart. The emotions he had always heard his dad describe his mom with suddenly making sense. He knew his hesitancy to bring her around his family was both annoying and concerning to her but he did it out of fear that what they were building could crumble.

It wasn't easy being the son of an NFL legend and going into the league with such high expectations. The ability to make genuine connections was almost impossible at times and he just wanted to have the same kind of life he saw in his dad. Playing the game he loved until it was time to be done and living life with the women he loved. Alexis reminded him of his dreams and passions outside of the game and grounded him. He found himself getting lost in admiration of her a lot when she talked, just like now.

"Hey, look at me" she said, putting her hand to his cheek. "I'm not going anywhere. Your sisters are going to interrogate me and I'm going to answer their questions. Your mom is going to be on my ass about her baby and I'm going to assure her. Your dad and brother are going to rag on you and I will defend you. I got you. We're in this together. I promise, it wont be as bad as you think." She told him softly.

"How'd I get so lucky?"

"Tequila definitely helped your case." She joked.

Letting out a laugh, he took her hand in his and kissed the back of it. "Maybe a little. But I'm grateful for it. I'm grateful for you." He said honestly.

"You better be." She said with a playful stare.

Leaning in to kiss her, the sound of a bang on the window shocked him out of the bubble he was in. Groaning when he looked out and saw his siblings staring in and giving him the all too familiar look of amusement at catching one another in something, he looked over at Alexis and let out a sigh.

"Guess we gotta go in now, huh?" he said unamused.

"It'll be fine. Promise." She said as they got themselves unbuckled and out of the car.

"What up, superstar." His older sister questioned.

"Bubby, this is Alexis. Alexis, this is Bubby."

"Bubby? I thought you said your big sister's name was Maddy?" Alexis questioned with a look of confusion.

"It is. Well, Madelyn really but everyone calls me Maddy. When Isaiah was younger he couldn't really say either and it kinda sounded like Bubby and it just stuck. Nice to meet you." His sister explained as stuck out her hand to shake Alexis' outstretched hand.

"So you must be the twins?" Alexis said, turning to the twins.

"Callie, Noah- this is Alexis. Alexis, this is Callie and Noah. My younger and annoying brother and sister. AKA the death of the James family."

"More like the fun of the family, thank you very much." Callie added with a glare. "Nice to meet you."

"I'd say nice to meet you but I've literally never heard of you." Noah said bluntly.

Isaiah punched his arm and shot him a glare, "Because you don't ever answer your phone. Plus we wanted to keep it private until we were ready"

"More like away from the girls and Mom. But I get it." Noah said with a smirk.

"Rude" the girls said in unison.

"Okay, well it's freezing so lets get inside before Mom comes out and yells or Dad comes out and goes all Spencer Luther King on us about spending family time" Isaiah dead panned.

All agreeing, they made their way to the door and walked into the entry way. The images of their childhood all spread on the table to the right and their parents footsteps coming closer.

"Kids? Is that you?" their mother's voice rang out before she appeared.

"It better be them. I already told them they can't be late for Christmas dinner or I'd be on their ass" their dad's voice chimed in just as they both appeared.

All chuckling, Isaiah spoke up first.

"Mom, Dad this is my girlfriend Alexis Um, Lex these are my parents. Spencer and Olivia." he said with a smile.

His parents just shook her hand and smiled at all of them. Glad to have all four of their kids home.

A/N: Definitely gave it away in the second part but wanted to finish it through! I hope it made sense and it was enjoyable. Thank you all for reading!
