A/N: This is a part two (more so follow up) to the Basketball Champ one shot! I hadn't planned on writing a part two but a few people did ask so here we are. 🙃 Took me a minute because I debated about adding certain things in or not because a part of me was like, "Well that didn't happen in the show!" or "It went different on the show" and the other part was like, "Do it anyways" *inserts evil Kermit the Frog meme* ...but its done and I hope it's enjoyable. 💛

Also! This one shot and the first part (basketball champ) are separate from the little world that I've written otherwise for these stories. :)

----------------------

Olivia was standing in the shower, lost in her thoughts. As she was applying her shampoo and going through her routine, it slowly dawned on her that she wasn't quite sure when the feelings had come back up. After all, she thought that she had done a good job of pushing them down. When he got with Layla, it meant that the happy ending was not hers for the taking and she had made her peace with that. On the other hand, it felt like maybe those feelings had never really been put to the side. Since the first day they met in that biology class, she knew in her heart that he would change her life. When he went after Layla, she settled on having him as a friend so that she could still keep him in her life. He was the first person who had seen her. All of her. The good, bad and awkward was all on display and yet, he never judged. Just always listened and showed up, constantly proving himself to be the steady presence that she had been looking for her whole life. A part of Spencer was better than no Spencer at all.

Sure, there were moments where she allowed a small part of herself to hope that the little things he did were signs he could possibly feel the same way even if it was in the future. When it did happen, it was a nice few seconds but it was always disputed with the negative thoughts and self-doubt that clouded her brain and reminded her it was him being a good friend. Even so, though he didn't feel the same, Olivia knew she had to be honest with herself. She was still very much in love with him. But the dream that she could tell him this and that they could be together was fantasy. She knew that reality was very different. Layla, Asher, her ongoing relapse that was still very much being kept to herself and a host of other reasons of why it couldn't possibly work even if she did tell him, screamed at her and took any bit of hope she would muster up.

"He deserves better. Someone who deserves that kind of love" is what she had resigned herself to thinking when the scary thought of putting herself out there would come up. If pushing her feelings down so that she didn't blow up her life and mess things up between a bunch of important people in her life and kept the peace, so be it.

As she finished in the shower, the thoughts didn't stop. Flashing memories of their time together and how genuinely happy she felt in his presence kept her mind racing a mile a minute. It was all so confusing and such a complicated situation. All the back and forth made it so that she could practically feel the anxiety bubbling in her stomach about him coming back later. It was a strange feeling because it wasn't ever like this before. Usually the idea of him being around was calming or exciting because he was her best friend. She would just have to play it cool and remind herself of that.

Push it down, bury it and keep the peace. That was the game plan. It was a good game plan and she complimented herself on it as she finished getting ready and decided to go to her secret place to get some air and quiet time before Spencer came back. Poker face time would be happening soon, so might as well prepare.

In an effort to make sure that he didn't keep her waiting too long, Spencer rushed to make the buses back to Beverly Hills. It had been a long practice and he was more tired than usual but he had told her he would come back and he intended on keeping his word. He was determined to make sure she knew that he meant it when he said that she wasn't alone. It was for his benefit as much as hers, if he was being honest with himself. He genuinely enjoyed her presence. It brought him peace and made him feel at home. The time they had been spending together was so easy and natural that he didn't notice the feelings that came with it were suddenly changing. Or were they even sudden at all?
