"You're the worst brother in history. I don't know why I even bothered." Olivia crossed her arms as she continued to stare Jordan down. She had tried all the tricks in her book to get him to crack but he was not budging. It impressed and annoyed her all at once.
"We go through this every year. I am not telling you what Spencer got you. Especially for Valentine's Day. I'm not even sure I wanna know. Just gross." Jordan defended himself. He knew his twin and the routine they constantly went through all too well. He also knew better than to mess it up. He appreciated how loved and genuinely happy his sister was at the hands of his best friend, and with all she had gone through to get there- he wouldn't dare mess it up, no matter how long it's been.
After all, despite 7 years of marriage and two young children under their belt, Spencer always knew how to make Olivia feel special and began to get crafty in how he surprised her with gifts. As much as she loved it, Olivia still wanted to know what she was getting. Surprising her was hard and the entire family had to be involved in order for it to even work. With this in mind, Jordan knew that every year around Valentine's Day, he would get harassed and pressured into telling her what gift would be waiting for her from Spencer. The first few years he cracked against his better judgement. It wasn't until not only Spencer stepped in but he was also continuously threatened by his own wife for ruining things and not having "any damn sense" (as she so politely put it), that he decided against giving in. Anniversaries, birthdays, any and all holidays were now known as avoid Liv times in his brain. This Valentine's Day would be no different.
"I'm not telling you what Spencer got you." she mocked. "You literally spent the first 28 years of our lives messing up surprises so why stop now?"
Feigning offense and motioning a zipper closing over his lips, he remained silent despite the death glare that continued coming from his clearly annoyed sister.
"If you're not coughing anything up, then go. All of us have to get the kids from school soon anyways, and I have plans with Simone soon since you're clearly no help"
"You called me over, you don't get to just kick me out." He retorted and gave a glare.
"Watch me." She said, pushing him towards the door. "See you never."
"Rude. Just rude." He huffed as he made his way to his car.
Just as she was walking away and about to pull out her phone to use a flashlight and begin her search of the master bedroom again, she was interrupted by the front door opening. "I swear Jordan, if you don't leave then you're telling me what he got me"
"Now why would he do that?" a voice that she could recognize anywhere made her turn around and look up. Staring straight into her husband's eyes, she faked innocence.
Deny till you die she chanted in her brain.
"Do what?" she said with her best puppy dog eyes.
"Nice try, woman. But I ran into him in the driveway. Gotta be slicker than that if you wanna get around me" he winked before walking towards the kitchen to grab a water from the fridge.
"You don't play fair. Just because you figured out my tactics after a while doesn't mean you're an expert." She followed him and stopped right in front of him. She stared into the brown eyes she still found herself getting lost in even after all these years and a small smile formed against her will.
"Oh, I beg to differ babe. I think my tactics are way more effective." He bit his lip slightly, walking towards her and wrapping his arms around her waist, his hands resting on her ass.
