Chapter 22: school shopping

-Ella's Pov-

"You can not force me to go back to school shopping. I still have 1 and a half weeks left and I will not ruin it with textbooks," I yell to my parents, locking myself in my room. I immediately call Kennedy and she has the same look on her face.

"My parents just got me a new backpack for senior year. This sucks," she says.

"We should dropout. Lots of people do it...right?" I ask, falling into my bed.

"Were you gonna get new clothes for this year or just wear sweatpants?" she asks, making me chuckle.

"I don't know. Did Allison and Jessie wanna go shopping?" I ask. She shrugs her shoulders and adds them to the call. I get comfy in my bed waiting for them to answer and can't fight the yawn in the back of my throat.

"Late night?" Jessie asks when she picks up.

"Oooo tell us about your date with Shawn," Kennedy says as Allison joins.

"Woah, you guys went on another date? Wait, Jessie when is he leaving again?" She asks.

"I forge the exact date but before school starts," she says.

"Now tell us about the date. What did you guys do?" Kennedy asks.

"He took me to his studio. I listened to some of his new songs. It was really cute. He wanted my opinion of the songs and actually cared about what I had to say," I tell them, feeling excited to see him again.

"Did you sing on some tracks? Are you going to be a famous singer now?" Allison asks.

"He asked for some background vocals to see how they would sound but absolutely not. It was nice and he made us lunch and it was really romantic. We watched the sunset from the top of the building," I tell them.

"Finally a good guy. Dean was an asshole and I'm not trying to insult my boyfriends best friend but...," Jessie says making us all laugh.

"You're right though. It's gonna suck when he leaves cause I already know I really like him," I declare.

"I texted Shawn and he said he leaves on September 1st," Jessie tells me.

"So school starts on the 5th of September....and he leaves the 1st. It's already August 27th. That means he leaves in 4 days not including the day he actually leaves," I say.

"Sorry El. He said he wanted to visit a lot though," Kennedy says. I put on a smile and ask the girls if they want to go shopping today. They all agree and I tell them I will pick them all up.

Ella: I'm throwing you a going away party

Shawn: you don't have to do that

Ella: I want to. Everyone wants to see you before you leave

Shawn: when?

Ella: tomorrow

Shawn: I have some recordings to do that day...is it okay if I come late to my own party

Ella: I'll be waiting

Shawn: can't wait to see you x

"Look how cute this dress is," Kennedy says holding it up to her body.

"Definitely buy that...wait how much is it?" I ask, checking the tag for her, "How much is too much?" I ask.

"$35"

"Good thing it's on clearance. It's $27"

She happily puts it into her basket and continues walking around. I pick up some simple shirts to wear in class and go straight to the comfy clothes. It's not a fashion show.

"Now you guys are on the cheer team right. Does that mean we can't talk to you guys in public?" I joke.

"Not all cheerleaders are assholes but a fair amount are so fair," Jessie says.

"I only do it cause the school doesn't have a dance team," Allison says while Jessie nods her head in agreement.

"Did you guys try starting one?" Kennedy asks.

"We tried but they wouldn't go for it," they tell us. That's lame. Why not?

"Are we all just shopping for future date nights?" Kennedy asks, looking at our baskets.

"I'm shopping for Shawn's going away party," I announce, holding up a red top.

"Who's throwing it?" They ask.

"I am. I just have to ask Luke if I can use his apartment for it," I smile. Hopefully he says yes.

Ella: can I call?

Luke: give me a sec I'm with the guys

Ella: I can call later it's fine

Luke: no

Luke: okay I'm good now

"Hey, I have a favor to ask," I tell him. He tells me he's listening and I can hear the guys laughing in the back, "can I throw a going away party for Shawn at your place?"

"When?"

"Tomorrow"

"That's kind of short notice don't you think?" He asks.

"I know but he's leaving in four days and I don't wanna wait. I'll pay for everything," I tell him.

"That's so soon that sucks. But sure let me ask Ashton real quick," he says. I hear him scream for Ashton's approval and hear Ashton yell back a sure. He hears me laughing over the phone and realizes I heard.

"Thank you Lukey Pooky," I smile.

"Umm only Ashton can call me that," he sasses.
