Chapter 146: Winter Solider

WYNTER'S POV:

I sat beneath a tree with Nik as we watched Steve run his laps. Nik would smirk every time he heard him tell the other man "On your Left".
I chuckled, "Perhaps he is spending too much time with you and Damon. He is beginning to tease even perfect strangers."

Nik simply laughed nuzzling my neck.
Soon the poor man collapsed under a tree near us, I tossed him an extra water bottle. He nodded in thanks.
Steve joined us all talking we learned his name was Sam Wilson. When the boys were talking about beds being too soft Nik teased him.
"Could always join the pile mate, it would take your mind off things being too soft."
I sighed and rolled my eyes, Sam smirked. Steve bless him blushed. Soon Jordan and Natasha pulled up.
She asked about the Smithsonian and fossils she was supposed to meet to get one. We all just gave her dead pan looks. Sam grinned. Steve joined her and they left on the mission. I turned to Sam getting the info on the V.A . he worked at.

Later that day I was at the V.A. with Nik, Rick, and Jordan. I spotted Sam as we arrived and he grinned. Then looked confused at the sight of photographers outside.
"Sorry about them. It is difficult to escape them most days. If they become a problem for those here my security group will remove them."
"No problem. So what brings you by?"
"Simple I love what I have heard about the work you are doing here. I believe that our soldiers do not get enough help and respect, so I am here to provide that."
"How?" Sam asked confused.
I grinned, it was refreshing that he did not know me beyond the Avengers.
"Tell me Sam have you heard of Camelot Industries? Or Avalon Embassy?"
"Yeah both. Apparently they are great groups to have on your side."
"Indeed we try to help as many as we can."
He blinked hearing me, "Wait are you telling me you have something to do with them? I thought you were just an Avenger, that you all were."
The guys chuckled. I smiled, "That is refreshing to hear. Yes we are Avengers, but I am also the Primary owner of Camelot industries and I am the Queen hence Avalon embassy."
Where is Damon and his phone now. The shock was almost comical on Sam's face.
"So here is what I wish to do, you do let me know if it isn't enough. I am fully funding the staffs salaries. Even volunteers will be compensated. I am providing you with all the latest medical tech for your rehabilitation program. I am hiring you 5 of the best psychologists to help with therapy. I will be ensuring all amputees get my latest prosthetics from the collaboration between Camelot and Stark Industries. I also have a staff of Drs hired to tend to their medical needs. We also have a housing development in progress for your Veterans, their families and any Widows to apply for. We should be able to house 80 within a month. And lastly I am providing a grant fund to each veteran that applies to pay for extra schooling should they like. Oh and do not worry we are setting this up similarly across the nation. Do you think that is enough or do you need more?" Good thing she is so damn rich, the mines in Camelot never run out and the Prison world always restocks itself.
He hugged me. You could see pure happiness in his eyes and joy in a few others that had gathered.
"It's perfect. What can I do to thank you?"
"Just keep doing what you have been. Care for these soldiers and their families."

Soon enough Steve was back. He was annoyed at the mission. We shared dinner before he left for his apartment.
A little later the call came in Fury was shot. I looked to my clan. They knew what to do. While Jordan Nik and I stayed with Steve and Nat, they would be preparing D.C. for the fight to come and after. We would make sure that this did not affect the civilians. Hydra and Project Insights downfall would not damage the Avengers.
We were at the hospital when they called Death on Fury. I nodded to Hill who would take him to the private hidden facility where Marcus was standing by with a Doctor and some blood to heal him just enough. They would ready for us.
When Steve had to go to S.H.I.E.L.D. I told him we would be standing by for him. He didn't bother hiding the drive he simply gave it to me.

We knew the moment the fight in the elevator began.

We saw the moment he left shield on the motorcycle.

We opened the back of the SUV and he jumped in. We put it in stealth mode. No camera or anything could track us. We quickly drove away. We headed to the mall time for him and Nat to see the drive.
Jordan and Natasha went inside, to the apple store and found a computer placing the small disk on the back that would let what we did in the suv ve traced back to the store. They then rejoined us and as we began driving away they hacked. I had us already heading towards New Jersey. Soon enough we were there. Steve could not believe it was the same base he came from. The five of us went inside to be confronted by Zola.
Soon I was sending out a magical shield to protect us from being buried. We quickly got in the SUV and headed to Sam. It was time the Falcon found his wings again.
We got there and he let us in quickly enough. He was listening to us discuss how to get Sitwell when he tossed his Falcon file on the table. When Steve said he couldn't let him do this he got out for a reason Sam grinned and even winked at me when he said , "Captain America and The Queen need my help who am I to not jump at the chance."
Steve asked where to find the wings and I smirked as Sam told where.
I then said, "You mean those wings?" Pointing to the coach where they waited.
Sam was shocked. Jordan and Nat chuckled. Nik smirked. Steve looked at me shaking his head with a grin, "Why did I even ask?"
"I don't know darling why did you?" I grinned at him teasingly.
It was time to begin. It was time to bring Bucky home.
