Daría

Did I hear this idiot correctly?

"You can't be serious, Ryden!" The Barbie exclaimed.

"I'm dead serious. That's the girl I'm seeing." Ryden pointed at me.

Yep, I heard him correctly. Why me? He could pick anyone, and he picked me. Thanks, God, for punishing me.

The Barbie crossed her arms. "Prove it."

No, don't prove it. There's nothing to prove. Stay where you are.

"Fine, I will." Ryden walked into the kitchen and grabbed my wrist.

I smacked his hand. "Get your hands off me, you scoundrel."

"Pipe down. I need your help."

"You need your head examined."

Ryden ignored me and dragged me to the Barbie. Then he wrapped his arm around my waist and tugged me to him. Ugh, why?

"I don't believe you," Barbie said.

"Believe it," Ryden said.

"There's no way you would go for a girl like her."

Wait. What?

"Why not?" Ryden asked.

"Look at her." Barbie pointed at me.

What about me? I'm not hideous and plastic like you.

"Look at her hair and clothes." Barbie scoffed.

There's nothing wrong with my hair and clothes.

"There's nothing wrong with Daria's hair and clothes,"
Ryden said.

I glanced at Ryden. Was he a mind reader?

"I'm way better than this dog." Barbie smirked.

Barbie was starting to cheeze me off with her condensing attitude.

"The only dog is you. Not get out before I call animal control on your stupid ass," Ryden said.

"Woof woof," I said.

Ryden and Barbie looked at me.

"Hi." I waved and smiled.

"Hey," a voice said.

We turned our heads to Gabe behind the bar.

"Would you like to take this somewhere else? My customers are watching you." Gabe pointed behind us.

We looked at the table of customers staring at us.

Ryden looked at Barbie. "Mandy was just leaving."

"Miss, I'm going to have to ask you to leave," Gabe said.

"What? Why?" Barbie whined.

Oh, dear God. Make it stop.

"You're disrupting my customers' dining experience. Now, go before I escort you out." Gabe pointed at the door.

Barbie stomped off in a huff. Once she left, I pushed Ryden away and returned to the kitchen. I didn't need this shit.
