By the time we reached Ace, we had already ruined our voices and needed to get hydrated immediately. So we sprinted to Ace's door and rang the bell. He opened it after a solid 30 seconds and started out by saying, "The hell are you guys doing here?"
"Polite way to welcome people, Ace!", I said while pushing through the door and creating room for me and D to get in.
To that he replied, "You guys are human beings?"
"He might not be but I am. Anyway, not the point", I pointed at D
"Yeah, the point is that I need Aunty Zee's number. You have it?", great way to not create suspicion, D.
"Ew, D. Just cause you're not getting any girls doesn't mean you can try a hand at Aunty Zee!", Ace teased
"Disgusting and haha, Ace. Do you or do you not have the number?", he really wasnt joking about with that pissed off accent.
"Well, I did have it written in one of the cook booms she gave me but I'm not sure which one of these 13 books have it.", then Ace kept his hand on the pile of cook books and asked again, "Why. Do. You. Need. It"
While Dominique struggled to find a reason, I took the responsibility and spoke out, "Look, my mom has her shooting and my dad had his first business trip after a long time. They both leave tomorrow and so I'll basically be alone all day for months. And since I'm an awful cook, I asked D for help but he's worse than me and that's inevitable. So he said that you a have a great teacher for it or thus can offer any possible help, so..."
"Ok. No issues just let me put these in D's car then", then we walked out together to keep the books in the backseat. D stood a few steps behind us for I dont know why.
That's when Ace said, "I'm a good student, you know, In case D hasn't already told you that", then he spoke louder and clearer "Cause some body is busy with Pree and Auntie Zee!", then he winked at me and continued. "No seriously though, I'll teach you"
"Umm..sure! When do we start?..........sir?", I tease him
He whispered scarily in a low voice, "When you're home alone..." but I also knew he was serious. So nodded and laughed at him and then bid farewell.
After we stopped in fron of my house to try and get a demo of we will be dealing with, I opened the first book and then D said. "Well, that's just splendid to search for what? 6 digits between a billion letters in any of these books' random pages?!"
I did not give any particular reaction and to that he said, "Well, this is gonna be a karate kick on the leg"
"On the leg?"
"What? Have you ever got a karate kick on your leg while you weren't readg for it? It's shocking and it hurts!", he explained childishly
I and Dominique then agreed to meet up tomorrow at the town library at 10am for looking through these books. I sat on the couch and that's when mom and dad called me to change my clothes and get ready for dinner. I told them I was gonna make something myself and that they should eat and go to sleep fast for their flight. We agreed on this and so I started to make some Tom Yum which caught my eyes. After and hour of not understanding whatever the hell I was doing, I finally tasted it. It definitely wasn't bad, I was actually quite impressed but also not cause it tasted nothing like Tom Yum. I kept some for tomorrow cause I had made it for 2 people and thus couldn't finish at once. You guys didnt think im a monster, did you? After that I finally changed and texted Ace who was online. "You can come tomorrow at 7 pm if you have no other work"
"I'm jobless for you :)", he replied almost immediately.
I smiled to that and then switched my phone off. That was good enough for today and my eyes needed rest. Cause tomorrow will be the most cruel day of their lives.
