"i was young when i lost them" i turned to meet her eyes
"i'm sorry" i said quickly and pushed away these sudden emotions
"no your okay, i want to know more about them" she smiled and i saw a tear fall from her eye
"mom wasn't perfect, but she was our mother. she always made sure we were okay, that we had anything we wanted. although all i ever wanted was that dumb rabbit" i laughed and kept eye contact with lily
"rabbit?" she sounded confused
"yeah i found this long haired rabbit outback of our house once and i insisted on keeping it." i smiled but it failed to hold as i remembered my father
"did you?" she smiled very exitedly
"i tried" i turned to face the dress again
"what do you mean" she asked confusingly as she stared at my head still
"dad did not like it, at all" i shut down, i became very dry and short stopped.
she took notice of this and i felt her gaze stare into my soul.
"do we like dad" she asked since she didn't know him
i turned to look at her, my hurt face must have said it all.
"we did at first." i began but thought about how i should word this

we stood in a comfortable silence for a moment and stared at the same dress.
"your getting it" i made my mind up and picked the wine colored dress up
"i was about to say the same thing" she smiled and followed me to the cashier area.
i gently laid the dress next to all the men's clothing and the lady smiled at lily.
we turned around and went back to the dresses.
lily ended up on getting 3 other dresses, a dark blue one, a pink one, and a green one.
