Ch. 71: Hit It or Quit It!: the Final Rounds Get Complicated! Part 2

3rd POV

The little songbird's ears perk up from the applause of the audience. Sakura and Ino, who are the loudest, are both standing on their feet yelling at the top of their lungs towards their good friend. Her cheeks are red and puffy from the double slap of Naruto but nonetheless, she feels relieved and excited that she won her battle against Kaen.

Shikamaru heaves out a sigh with his lazy smile. "I'm glad she's back to normal."

Shino stays silent and keeps a steady gaze on the h/c nette, mentally congratulating her. Haku is clapping his hands with the crowd smiling, he frowns a bit when seeing her red, swollen cheeks. But hey, if it weren't for Naruto, who knows what the deranged y/n will do, so he let him slide for now.

Kankuro grins, "All right, she won! Good for her."

Gaara didn't bother to scold his brother, since he's trying to figure out what happened to y/n when she was not acting like herself.

Kiba is hollering and punching the air. "All right!!! Awesome y/n!!!" Akamaru barks along with his owner happily.

"You did it n/n chan! You won!" Naruto exclaimed with a close eyed grin.

Y/n smiles at him but winces a bit from the stinging pain. "Heck yeah I did. When did you ever doubt me? Hey, can you help me stand up please?"

"Oh sure." He wraps her right arm around his neck and heaves her up.

When y/n stood, her legs felt like jelly. I guess when someone else takes control of your body for so long, your limbs will act as if you are a newborn deer. She hangs on to him as her legs begin to buckle and shake.

"Whoa, you okay?" Naruto is filled with deep concern.

Genma casually steps up to them. "Don't worry, the medics will come over to check up on you."

"No, no I'm fine." Y/n quickly speaks up. "I just need to rest up a bit and I should walk."

Naruto frowns, "Are you sure y/n? You're still bleeding and you need an ice pack for your face."

Before the girl answers, the medics arrive just in time. "Awe man."

"We will take her from here." One of them said and laid the stretcher on the ground.

Naruto carefully sets her down on the white cloth and holds her hand as she lays down. When the two men lift her up, he lets go of her hand and watches them take her away.

In the infirmary...

When the three arrive, the first person y/n sees is Neji who is still sitting on his bed with a distant look. "Hi Twinkle Toes!"

The distant look in his eyes melts away and is replaced by curiosity. "Hello y/n, how's your battle?"

Y/n blows out a puff of air, "It wasn't easy that's for sure. That chick can surely pack a punch." She winces when she feels a stinging sensation from the alcohol pads that the doctor is using for her cut. "But nonetheless, I won."

Neji shows her a small smile, "Congratulations."

"So how are you feeling? Are you still empty?" Her smile twitches as she stops herself from laughing.

Neji raises his brow from her last question. "I'm still healing up. My chakra has not reached full capacity yet."

"Hm, all right. As long as you're okay." She tilts her head down to see her legs. 'I wonder if I can walk now.' Just when the medic turns away, she plants her feet on the tiled floor and holds onto the edge of the white bed.
