CHAPTER 9 | Keep your head down- |

                                                                            WINTER'S POV

ONE WEEK LATER

Winter was sitting in the back corner of Science class like he did in every class. He'd gotten himself to forget a bit of the incident with himself and Moonwatcher. Even though they'd have every class together he'd gotten to be lucky to dodge Moonwatcher every time he saw her. He would try his best to not look at her once when they'd have small projects with each other. 

Though.. He did catch her a few times glancing and staring at him but he would just ignore it. He went back to listening to the science teacher, Mrs. Blaze. He had to admit, well you would say anyway. She was kindave stupid. She would say things like, " People are not made of atoms and matter." Which she was very wrong and everybody knew that too. But at least she gives Winter's A's he won't mind her stupidity.

The only reason she was probably still here was the school's lousy amount of teachers. Mrs. Blaze would always come to school with her smooth blondish gold hair with Inappropriate outfits. She was probably trying to get someone to simp over which many boys already have. Mrs. Blaze was giving an explanation about partners and what projects we were going to do with our partners. 

Since we have an equal number of students, I will be handing each person a partner!" Everyone groaned by the fact they couldn't pick their partners. And Winter only groaned that he'd have to be partnered with somebody.

He just breathed out a big sigh and knew he had to deal with it. Blaze started calling kids names for partners. " Ostrich and Marsh, Pur- Purregrin and Garnet.." Blaze went on mispronouncing names and partning each student. Winter's name was then called. " Winter and..." Please don't be her, please don't be her. " And Moonwatcher!" Sh!t! Winter wanted to protest so badly since he had to be partnered with Moon but he didn't want to get bad info on his behaval card. 

He grumbled to himself quietly, waiting for more instructions. " The partners I have paired with you guys will be your partner for the rest of the year!" Everyone gave small chants of yeses and groans. " Hey! Don't be upset! At least I tried my best pronouncing your names!" Blaze protested. " Now back to listening to my puurrfect voice. We will start our partner projects about a month later. For now we will be doing independent work or learning stuff with your partners. And that's what we'll be doing today! So everyone will be meeting up with their partners and talking science stuff with them! Now go go!" Blaze announced everyone to head to their partners while she went to her clear mirror, fixing her makeup. 

Winter watched other people meet up with their partners while he stayed at his desk thinking. Just ignore the personal questions, don't let her see you through your mask, and try your best to not talk much. Winter was disturbed by his thoughts when his partner pulled up a chair in front of his desk. 

They gave quick glances at each other and went to a few moments of awkward silence. She was the one to break it first. " Um.. My- my name is Moo- Moonwatcher but- but I go by Mo- Moon as- as you probably know." Moon stuttered obnoxiously. Moon kept her eyes down to the musty marbled floor. 

" My name is Winter as you know too." Winter bursted out unwillingly. Why have he said that? I mean it's just a name and she already knew that too. Winter raised his eyes from the floor to face Moon's. Her pooled green jade eyes looked anxious. Her eyes are so distracting... Why did he have to say that every time he saw her!? Having a crush on someone will definitely not keep your head down Winter! Winter yelled at himself while Moon just Stared at him. 

" So.. any- anything science abo- about your- yourself?" Moon asked, brushing her soft hands together. 

" Why are you always stuttering?" Winter questioned. 

" I-.. I don't know, I- I'm just nervous." Moon answered, pulling her black hair behind her ear. " You don't have to be." Winter said. 

" It's not like someone's going to go up to you and bully you for no reason." Winter remarked, crossing his arms and pulling himself up. " Actually that had happened to me before." Moon said, rubbing her arm. Is that why she's always quiet? 

" Oh.. Didn't know that.. So anything that is interesting about yourself in Science." He asked, trying to get off the topic.

Moon and Winter actually had a few good conversations until the bell rang. " Oh! Class is over kiddos! Go to your next class or whatever.." Blaze muttered at the last words, too focused on herself. 

" Well I guess it's time to go, see you later." Moon said while getting up from the chair. 

" Yeah.. You too." Winter started packing his stuff up and leaving the classroom. He actually enjoyed talking to Moon. That was the first time he actually enjoyed having a conversation since forever. Winter nearly had a small smile across his face thinking about their conversation. 

No no Winter, keep your head down, don't let anyone see through you.... Well maybe just talking to someone is okay. I mean we were forced to! Yeah, that'll be okay. He walked to his class with his backpack full of school supplies. I hope to talk to her again soon.
