Early next morning they arrived at Naboo, and headed to the compound that was the destined place of Bane's capture, starting the well-practiced preparations, and assembling of the equipment. Nevar gave everybody low-range comms to communicate. After everything would be finished they'd have a visual through the whole compound, restricted routes they could control, electronic stun fields to capture Bane without contact, and they could darken the whole building, and use their night vision devices to give them an edge. And, those measures were just some to start with... She didn't see how Bane could avoid getting caught if he was to walk in unknowingly, and was worried. But, they had barely started, only getting the scanning prevention field activated to cover their locations, when one of the mercs shouted on the channel:
"Bane is coming!"
She squinted her eyes, but was not so surprised. It was Bane, after all...
"Druk, he should have been one day behind the false target's location info. No time to finish the preparations, or even verify that he'd use only prepared routes. We go with scenario four!" Nevar shouted the orders to get everybody in their positions.
There was a corridor that Bane would probably pass by before entering the area when arriving, and She saw her chance when running to her position. She threw one of her wrist utility bracers there over the fence, hoping that Bane would see and recognize it, and take the hint that something was wrong. They had yet strict orders not to kill him, but it would be good if Bane could thin out their ranks...
Bane arrived on Theed to monitor when the target would get out of the ship. He was not going to capture her there, but wanted to finally have a visual contact. Passengers were flooding out of the ship, but there was no-one matching the description.
"Todo, do you get any compatible readings?"
"No Mr. Bane, I don't. There are no life-forms fitting the description."
Bane growled. How the hell was that possible? He started to go through the data of the spaceport, and leaving city connections, and saw that the alias she used had just taken a taxi speeded to a certain location just outside the city. Bane smirked. I have no idea how you slipped out of here, but now I'm gonna get you... This was the first time he was able to get to the place she was staying right after her, not a day or so later. He sent Todo back to the Justifier in case he needed some info, and took a speeder ride to the coordinates, arriving at a large office type building just outside the city. It looked empty, but the coordinates were correct. What the hell... He grew more suspicious when closing the compound.
"Show me the layout and info on how many entering points there are to the compound."
"Three, one of them ahead of you. I send you the holo projection mr. Bane."
Bane examined the layout of the area.
"Nah, I don't like doors..." With that he started to close in the main entrance point, but just before he took off with the boots to go over the fence he saw a familiar looking object on the ground. What..? He did recognize it, though it made no sense. Unless... A low growl escaped Bane. This is better not be what I think... Bane felt all too vividly the feeling flushing over him again when he had waited outside the Khil's operating room, being sure she would not make it, and flashes of her lying on the floor when the Abyssin's foot crushed her chest came into his mind.
"Scan the area. Are there any life forms showing?"
"No, mr. Bane, it seems there is some electrical disturbance in the area. I ...cannot get any readings."
Bane snarled. He did not like how he felt, the normally cold and analytical rationalism was no sided by boiling anger. He bolted over the fence, and landed on the other side. He started moving cautiously, circling around the side of the compound, not heading straight to the entrance. He didn't see anything. Gotta risk it, he thought, as he emerged using the boots, and got to the roof of the building. If someone was hoping for him to come through the doors it was best to do the opposite. Bane found a roof window, used his vibroblade to pry it open, and glided in. Silence. The multistorey building had four floors. Bane advanced through the upper floors finding nothing. So, whatever there is must be on the first floor. Hopefully I can give them a surprise...
