"Phoenix, please!" A voice called through the darkness. It was an endless oblivion. Colours danced and warped in front of my eyes as they refused to open. I couldn't. The horror of what I'd done played on repeat in my mind's eye and I was unable to send it away. I didn't want to wake up. I didn't want to face what I'd done.

A sob that wasn't mine echoed through my mind. It sounded familiar. A different voice I couldn't discern sent inaudible sounds through me. I didn't understand what was happening.
"YOU CANNOT LEAVE ME LIKE THIS!" The first voice tore through the air, making me jump and the voice stopped cold.
"They moved..." said the second voice. I felt a hand I couldn't see press itself to my cheek and I flinched from the sudden contact. Slowly but surely though, I managed to force my arm up to my cheek to place my hand on top of whoever's was there. I heard disembodied gasps of shock and relief around me. I groaned a little. My next task was to get my eyes open. My eyes flitted around, looking hopelessly for some help, but there was nothing there. Instead, I closed them tighter, hoping to release some kind of metaphorical latch holding them closed.

It worked. My eyes opened slowly and I immediately squinted at the bright light. As they adjusted, I could see the other incubi and Mika surrounding me with varying degrees of relief on their faces. Why the Hell are they all in my room? My heart stopped. Sam... I closed my eyes again, lack of will to be awake dragging me down. And without warning, I was engulfed in a hug, the attacker shaking so hard that I was trembling as well. I looked to my side and saw a shock of brown hair. Wait a minute... The figure loosened their hold and my heart felt as if it were flying. Green vest, emerald eyes... as sure as the sky was blue, Sam was alive and holding me in his arms. Confusion flooded me suddenly.
"H-How are you... I k-kill... You died in front of me..." Sam stared at me, tears still falling freely.
"You think I died? Look at yourself! You weren't fucking breathing!" I furrowed my eyebrows and looked to everyone else in the room, who nodded with now concerned expressions. Damien was watching me intently and I knew he was looking through my mind. His eyes widened and he looked at Sam, who avoided his brother's gaze.

"Why wouldn't you mention that, Sam?" Damien asked him. Sam kept his eyes on me.
"I don't know what you're talking about."
"Don't play dumb with me, Sam!" Damien snapped, making everyone stare at him. "You know exactly what I mean and the fact that you would hide something like that is insanely stupid!" I watched as everyone's faces morphed into confusion and they all looked at Sam, who sighed, knowing the game was up. He turned to me, face filled with caution.
"When I woke up, Nix, you weren't...in bed." Everyone stared except Damien, who had a cold look on his face. It unsettled me slightly. "You were...stood...next to me. With a knife..." Everyone gasped.
"Then how are you..." I couldn't finish my sentence. I ran my hands over his chest, over his heart, but he was fine.
"I grabbed it off of you, Nix, I wasn't just gonna let you st- do that..." he continued uncomfortably. He twisted around and shakily picked up the knife I'd taken from the kitchen from his bedside table, showing it to me. Everyone stared at it, then at me. "When you didn't have it anymore, youjust... Collapsed... And you started screaming. Nothing I did broke you out of it. Then you... You just stopped breathing."

I blinked in rapid succession. What the fuck...? The other incubi continued to stare at me, looking betrayed.
"Is this true, Mx?" James asked me. "Did you try to kill our brother?" I could only stare blankly at the wall, unable to respond.
"They didn't do it on purpose..." Damien assured his brother. That jolted me back to reality and this time, I stared at Damien. He gave a little sigh and looked at me before turning to his brothers. "They have to know, Mx..." I looked down and shook my head. Despite my protests, Damien continued. "We believe that Phoenix has been under the enthrallment of a concubus-devil hybrid." Everyone stared at him in silence and I groaned. This was gonna take a while to explain.
