The morning after the party dawned bright and beautifully sunny. I was awoken by the beaming rays shining into my room, past the curtains that hadn't been closed the night before. I glanced at the clock on the bedside table. 11:23am. Clearly, I'd needed the sleep. After the horrors of the party and the terror that had come with the nightmare only a few hours before, I'd crashed into sleep harder than ever. Usually, it took me hours to fall asleep.

Groaning, I pulled off the dress I was still wearing from the party and dressed myself in a much more comfortable outfit of jeggings and my baggiest hoodie, feeling sluggish and slow. I felt awful, with a pounding headache so bad, it was what I imagined a hangover to feel like. I could only assume it was a result of taking in far too much information in such a short span of time. My dad disowning me was something I was already starting to get over. I really had seen it coming years ago. The thing my brain was still struggling to comprehend was that there was a devil who not only threatened to kill the five sex demons that were living in my dead granddad's house, but that very same devil had also threatened to rape me. It sounded so unbelievable, and yet somehow it was all true. I could barely believe the party had even happened, it was so surreal. But it did. And then...

I'd cast Sam away. The man who'd already done so much for me. I'd sent him out of my room, just for saying something slightly insensitive. I desperately needed to apologise, and hopefully, he'd accept it. My stomach growled at me suddenly, and I realised I hadn't eaten since yesterday morning. I had to eat before I did anything. I dragged myself down the stairs, pausing when I heard the sounds of fighting. I peered out of the glass doors into the back garden, spotting James, Matthew, Damien and Erik, all throwing punches and kicks at Sam. The latter was dodging them easily and was somehow managing to fight back against all four with ease. Something unsettled me about seeing the boys fight. I knew they were only training, but the image of proper and polite James attacking someone made me queasy. It just seemed wrong. They all paused for a moment, letting themselves catch their breath. For a moment, it seemed like Sam had caught my eye, but contact was broken the second I noticed. Before I could blink, they were back at it, but Sam seemed different, somehow. More irritated. Guilt swelled up from the bottom of my stomach but I swallowed it down. I'd apologise when they were done training for the day.

I entered the kitchen to find Mika making enough sandwiches to feed a small battalion. She sent me a distracted smile as I walked in, her mind clearly elsewhere. It suited me just fine. I wasn't in any mood for pointless banter. I pulled out my phone and mindlessly scrolled through Reddit as Mika divided the sandwiches onto different plates and sided each with what I assumed were ready-salted crisps. She began placing the plates on the dining room table, taking the last one out into the foyer with her. I put away my phone and was about to start eating when she walked back in, confused.
"Do you know where the boys are?" She asked me. I shook my head.
"No. Last I saw, they were training in the garden. I take it they're not there anymore?"
"Nope..." Mika frowned, pondering their disappearance, then shrugged. "Whatever, I'm just gonna eat in my room. I need to study anyway." She re-exited the kitchen and after a minute, I got up as well. If the boys had stopped training, there was no point procrastinating. I took my plate and a second one at random and set out, wondering where on Earth Sam could be. In the shower or in his bedroom were the most logical choices, so I ascended the stairs and turned left, only to walk face-first into an opening door.

"Whoa! What the..." My heart both soared and sank upon hearing Sam's voice. I was looking for him, but at the same time, I hadn't quite prepared myself for what might follow. I looked up to see him peering at me from behind a door, a surprised look on his rather damp face. I was right, he'd been in the shower. "Oh, crap. Are you alright?" He asked. I nodded.
"Yeah, I'm fine. I was looking for you; I brought food." I held up one of the plates in my hands, almost laughing when Sam's eyes practically lit up at the sight.
"Oh, hey. Thanks." He stepped out from behind the door and my eyes widened in shock. Despite realising that he'd been in the shower, I hadn't expected him to be shirtless. "Hey, you alright? Hello?"
"Wha... Huh?" I glanced at him to see a sly smirk appear on his face.
"What, you like what you see?" He teased. I sent him a look.
"I'm asexual, dude. I don't bother with things like that."
"Oh right... I kinda forgot. I was just joking, you know."
"Oh, I know. It was just funny to see the look on your face when I responded halfway intelligently, not mooning over your abs like I'm sure most people do." Sam blushed furiously but didn't say anything further. Instead, he grabbed one of the plates out of my hands and dropped to the floor to eat. I followed suit because, by that point, I was absolutely starving. Sam finished eating almost immediately and I gaped at him before remembering that he had superhuman speed and strength. Instead, I sent him a grin.
"Hungry, are we?" I teased. Sam nodded.
"Yeah, we've been training all morning. Not to mention I've been up since-" He cut himself off uncomfortably. I knew exactly what he meant.
