Akademi High. It wasn't exactly my favourite place on the planet. I had an ingrained disdain for teenagers and none of them liked me, either. I was very much a loner and spent my time hiding in the corner of the courtyard, with my headphones on and a pen in my hand, frantically writing out fantastical stories that I'd spawned in the pits of my Hell-hole brain. None of the students really paid any attention to me. They had their own friends to give that to.

That was one of the few good things about Akademi; it was a very diverse school and allowed students to express themselves. As such, we had a very colourful (literally) student body. I knew everyone based on looks and which group they belonged to. The bullies, the group of girls that were always massive assholes to me, were all blonde with dip-dyed hair. The Cooking club never stopped wearing their aprons. The Light Music Club walked around with very punk rock styles. A couple of students had thought I was a member of their club based on my own attire, but no. I wasn't a social person. There was one group of boys, however, that were diverse in themselves. They were all brothers, as far as I knew, and they were very different. The eldest was James. He was a member of the student council and very uptight when it came to the rules. Erik came next, the charmer of the five and had most of the girls swooning for him. Despite his reddish-orange hair, he was a member of the drama club. The youngest of the brothers was named Damien and he was very similar to me. He was very quiet and spent all of his time taking pictures for his photography club. Strangely enough, I never saw any of the other photography students ever taking pictures. Slightly older than Damien was Matthew, the happy-go-lucky leader of the cooking club who always had a smile on his face.

And then there was Sam. The middle child who had a "bad boy" attitude and hung out with the school's gang of delinquents. He wasn't a good student and the only reason he got away with everything was because his oldest brother was on the council. Even I could tell James kept letting Sam off the hook because he was holding out hope that Sam would change his ways. Of course, he never did. I rarely saw him in class (his desk was right next to mine), I'd seen him lazing by the fountains without a care in the world and he seemed to be particularly close with Umeji Kizuguchi, who was leading the delinquents while the original leader was away.

"Mx Starglass!" I started and stared at the teacher, who looked impatient. The other students were cleaning already. I blushed and got up without a word, waiting for the bin bags to be filled so I could do my usual and take them to the bin by the incinerator. I didn't have to wait long.
"Mx Starglass?" My teacher called, holding out some papers. "If you happen to see Anderson out there, please give him these. It's the classwork from today." I almost snorted but held it in and took the sheets silently. I didn't think Sam would want them. I wouldn't be surprised if he threw them in the incinerator the first chance he got.

I wandered out behind the school and sure enough, I laid eyes on the brown-haired delinquent leaning against the wall and twirling what looked to be an elaborately decorated knife or dagger between his fingers. How had none of the teachers seen him with that? Eh, what did I care? Half of the kids in the school walked around with shit that could easily be used as a weapon. The other delinquents spotted me approaching and Kizuguchi nudged Sam, who turned to face me. I immediately noticed his cheeks going slightly pink but I ignored it. Aside from the group of his intimidating delinquent friends, he probably hadn't seen another teenager for days on end. With a sigh, I pushed one side of my headphones back and held out the papers to him.
"Teacher wanted me to give you today's classwork." He eyed them without a word before looking at me with an eyebrow raised. I nodded to myself, laughing slightly but with no humour in my emotions. "Yeah, I didn't think you'd take them. I'll just stick them in the incinerator, save you the trouble." I muttered, half to myself. Sam didn't respond and I walked past them, replacing my headphones. I heaved the bin bags into the incinerator and shoved the classwork papers in between them, closed the heavy metal door, and turned the incinerator on. I turned and walked out, passing the group and deliberately ignoring them because I could sense them all staring at me when I was very suddenly pushed against a wall and trapped there.
