Sam stared silently during my rant, watching me carefully as I paced around the room. When I finally stopped, Sam sighed.
"Well, I guess one good thing came out of this. I get to kick my old man's ass." I nodded enthusiastically.
"I know. Fucking asshole... And to think he's gonna be my father-in-law." I groaned at the thought but chuckled at the mental image that popped into my head. "That would be an interesting Christmas..." Sam laughed too but his face quickly became one of anger.

"You okay?" I asked. Sam got up out of bed and despite that I'd seen it many times before, I blushed at the fact he wasn't wearing a shirt. He stood by the bench and gazed into the fire, clenching his fists. I was reminded suddenly of the night we'd spent bonding in our living room, when we'd opened up to each other about our pasts. "You really hate him, don't you?" I said sympathetically.
"Yeah. I do. That bastard made me and my brothers miserable for years. We finally escaped, and then he grows the balls to try and steal the one I love away from me." His nails dug into his palms and I could see them drawing blood. "That bastard kills for fun. He burns kingdoms to the ground for not submitting to him and murders hundreds just because he can. He has a fucking harem of people and replaces every one of them with prisoners of war by the handful... If he had gotten his hands on you... If he even touched you I would have... I..." Sam started glowing a deep green and I rushed to him, hugging him from behind.

"Hey, hey, it's okay. I'm fine. Diana's guard saved me, remember? I'm okay."
"I would have never forgiven myself if you fell into his hands..."
"I didn't, Sam. And either way, it wouldn't have been any fault of yours." Sam nodded but he was still glowing. "We're gonna kill the arsehole, yeah? Then we can go home and get married. I'll even let you punch my dad if he shows up again." The green around Sam slowly diminished as he chuckled and twisted around to embrace me.
"Sounds good."

The sky outside slowly got brighter as Sam and I stayed awake, talking about everything and nothing. By the time the sun was shining brightly through the windows, we were laughing and joking with each other as if we were back at home, happily in the mansion. I was regaling Sam with the story of how my old creative writing teacher had embarrassed Ronnie the day he'd joined the school when I noticed something like realisation dawn on Sam's face, along with what looked like a bit of hope.
"Hey, Nix... We're in the demon world." I stared at him, a little bit concerned.
"Yeah...? Have you only just noticed?" I asked. He sent me a look and I sniggered.
"I just realised... If you really wanted to, we could..." Sam trailed off and I realised what he was on about.
"The demon marriage..." Sam nodded, the hope growing in his eyes. "Sam, I already told you I'd be okay to do that with you. I love you and trust you." Sam's face lit up in joy and he kissed me hard, making me gasp slightly but I melted into it quickly, kissing him back.

A sudden and loud knock reached my ears and Sam pulled away from me with a growl.
"Go AWAY!!" He shouted, but was countered by James.
"Sam, we brought breakfast." He said.
"We'll eat later!!"
"Are you seriously going to argue with me?!" Sam opened his mouth to retort but I put a hand over his mouth, sending him a cheeky smile and giggling at his affronted face.
"You can come in, James," I called, removing my hand from my fiance's mouth. The door opened and revealed all of the incubi and their partners, each carrying a plate of food. James held out an extra plate to me and his wife, Iridessa, held one out to Sam. Sam looked kind of pissed but took the plate without complaint.
"Thanks, 'Dessa." He said begrudgingly.
"You're welcome, Sparky." She replied. I took my plate with a thumbs up to James, having yawned at that moment. He smiled and nodded back.

"So, what's the plan?" Sam asked, instantly stuffing a piece of jerky in his mouth.
"Well, we should probably take the next couple of days to train properly. Since we're in Lilith Castle, we'll have access to training equipment." Erik suggested.
"Lilith Castle? This place has a name?" Mika asked beside her husband. He nodded and Damien began to explain.
"The first succubus, Lilith, was exiled here after being cast out of Eden by the Heavens. She became a demon and soon began to breed more incubi and succubi than the world could control."
"Wait. Lilith as in Lilith from the Bible?" My sister asked.
"Yes. During her time here, she established a kingdom with this very castle at its heart."
"Well, it's very pretty," Mika said. Matthew disagreed.
"Mehhh... Not really a fan of it." Ronnie stared at his husband in disbelief.
"You're kidding, right? This place looks awesome!" He exclaimed. Matthew smiled back at him but didn't reply. Ronnie scoffed and continued to gaze around the room.
