I got bored.

Evie:

I woke up, feeling a slight throbbing in my head. Remnants of the lake came back to me and I took notice of my surroundings. I was in some warehouse looking place. It had to be way out of town because there aren't any warehouses in Chance Harbor, the town is too small for that. I sat with my hands tied behind my back on the cold gray smooth floor. It was concrete, and all four walls were made of it. The room was small, but now I had noticed I was completely alone. My friends nor Jake were in here and my mind went rapid thinking of all the different scenarios that could have occurred. They could be dead.
I tried to break free of the ropes but they were tied too tightly. It hurt and burned against my wrist that Adam, or Blackwell I should say, had gripped onto. I was stuck in a bad predicament, with no idea how to get out of it.

My attention was pulled from trying to break free when the door suddenly opened. In walked Blackwell, followed by four other people. Three boys and a girl. All of them looked particularly familiar, but had different features. Their hair was brown but the girl had blonde highlights in hers, the three boys had different shades. One boy had blue eyes, and looked exactly like Blackwell. The other boy and the girl had hazel, they looked alike, probably twins. And the last boy had green eyes; he looked a lot like me but we're only half-siblings.
These are his other children.

"Good," he said. "You're awake. These are my sons and my other daughter." He pointed to each of them as he called out their names. The boy with the resemblance to Blackwell is Jonathan, how fitting. The twins' names are Freya and Ethan, and the last boy is James.
What a dysfunctional family I was born into.

They each wore such hard faces. The only emotion they seemed to portray was coldness. The four could smile or laugh but it would be for all the wrong reasons. Have any of them ever experienced any form of happiness?
It was hard to tell if they did this for satisfaction or to please their selfish and power hungry father. I didn't want to believe they were terrible people, I actually wanted to know more about them. But people have a good way of tricking you, just ask John Blackwell.

"Do you think they intimidate me? Because you certainly don't," I replied. His stomach churning smirk withered into a displeased expression. I enjoyed getting under his skin.

He smacked his lips in disdain. "Evelina, I warn you to avoid saying anything to dig yourself into an even deeper hole. Not that I don't mind."
"We both know you do."
"No correction on your name this time?"
"Why let you call me something everyone I love calls me? Now that I'm aware of your sinister plans, I no longer argue over what you call me."

He chuckled, "I love your fierce façade, Evelina. Fortunately, it gets to stick around. The three of you will come to your senses and join us soon enough."

"You only want a circle full of black magic to be at your control," I spat. "You care nothing for any of your children. And I certainly hope the four of you know that. He'll fool you, trust me. He's a good liar, and he's manipulative."
The four of them looked at each other with glances I couldn't read, but it seems like I almost got through to them. Until they went back to the blank faces they wore before.

"I think that's enough for now," Blackwell said after a few moments. "You will join us. Whether you like it or not, you know it's your destiny."

"I'll die first, whether you like it or not."
Blackwell stared me down, and when he realized he wasn't going to win, he simply opened the door and left with his other children. All I could do in this empty room was hope that my friends were okay.

Jake:

I woke up in an empty room alone, and the only thing I could think of was that Evie might be hurt. The door opened, and Blackwell walked in. I know his other kids are here, but looks like I don't get to meet the rest of the family yet.
"Ah, Jake. Soon to be son-in-law I hear."
