I'm tired, I was up until one in the morning.

Evie:

"Faye, come on we're going to be late!" I shouted from downstairs. It was almost time for Ethan and Adam's Christmas party at the boathouse; it starts in twenty minutes.
I wore a green velvet material, ruched long sleeve dress that had a low v-neck and hugged my body. I paired it with black ankle strap heels and wore the necklace and bracelet my mom gifted me. I curled my hair and applied neutral makeup.

It felt so nice to say that again. Mom. When I was being raised by Lucy, she was my mom. I've always had the notion that family isn't blood, it's whoever feels like home to you. So even if they weren't biologically my parents, they were still my parents. It just feels good to have someone to call mom again. I'm happy I forgave her.

"I'm coming!" Faye responded as she hurried down the stairs. She looked good. A black lace dress with a v-neck that exposed her cleavage and black fishnet tights with black combat boots that she wears almost every day. She had dark makeup on as usual, that made her hazel eyes pop, and lip gloss.

"Okay goth girl, let's go," I said sarcastically and laughed. She hit me on the arm, and then ran because she knows I'll get her back.
We drove to the boathouse, and went inside. It was packed already. There was a Christmas tree over by the door that goes downstairs. Lights hung above, illuminating the place.

"I'm going to go find Melissa," Faye said.

"Alright, be careful."

"Yep. Love you," she said before she went off, leaving me here. I decided to go outside, and stand on the wooden patio, leaning against the railing as I looked out onto the water and heard the small waves crash along the rocks beneath me. The moon was beautiful, but it's reflection even more so.

Unknown:

I stood across the boathouse, in the corner. Through the crowd, I could see her standing outside. So calm, yet so radiant.
She lights up every room she walks into. Her presence is like sun rays, they shine from her smile. Such a soft heart, but also fierce and full of strength.

The world without her is like a sunless garden where the flowers are dead.
She is the sun.

Evie:

"You look wonderful tonight," a voice said from behind me. I turned my head, as he leaned against the railing right next to me.

"Thanks Adam. Why aren't you inside?"

"Saw you out here alone, figured I'd check on you. That and I wanted to tell you how beautiful you look," he shrugged with a smile. I laughed.

"I'm fine," I said, turning my head to look back at the moon's reflection in the water.

"Are you sure?"

I laughed again. "Yes. Thanks for checking up on me."

"No problem."

"Have you seen the others?"

"No, not yet. I saw you walk in with Faye but I haven't seen Diana or Melissa."

"Hm, that's weird. Maybe they're on the docks making a cult."

Adam chuckled, "I don't put it past them."

"If they did, this entire town would be burnt to the ground," I replied.
I felt eyes on me, and looked at Adam. He was staring at me, but his eyes, his mind, they were somewhere else. He was lost in space, in his endless thoughts.
"What?" I asked.

"You're just so beautiful."
My cheeks burned up. His hand was under my chin, his thumb rubbing soft circles on my cheek. He pulled me closer, our eyes not once breaking contact. He kissed me, softly, and I would be lying if I said I didn't like it. I wasn't afraid anymore. To go after what I want, whoever I want, because I shouldn't sacrifice my happiness to make others happy. I love Diana, but they broke up long ago. There was nothing holding me back.
Or so I thought.
