Chapter 18

"You're late!" Was the first thing Mercedes said when she saw Rebecca walk in with Colby. "How do you manage to be late for a Halloween party?"

Rebecca laughed and hugged her. "We got held up."

Mercedes gave her a knowing look. "Like sex held up, or stuck in traffic, or both..." She said laughing.

Rebecca shook her head and looked around. She saw tons of people who she didn't know, and the Halloween decorations Mercedes had put up, made Rebecca love Halloween a little bit more. "This place looks great!" The music was blasting in her ears. She didn't want to scream, but she knew Mercedes wouldn't be able to hear her if she talked normal.

Mercedes smiled. "Thank you! I worked on it all day." She then looked up and saw Colby. "Hey!" When she saw the face paint she immediately knew what they dressed up as. "Dude, y'all look incredible!"

Rebecca smiled up at Colby who smirked. "I thought we cleaned up pretty nice." He said wrapping an arm around her waist. He then looked down at Mercedes. "Are you a pirate?"

Mercedes moved her hand up to show them her hook. "Duh!" When someone yelled her name from the bar, she looked over there before sighing. "Well, duty calls." She then looked back at Rebecca. "You all have fun! I'll catch up with you later."

Rebecca nodded and she watched Mercedes walk away. Colby kissed the top of her head and pointed towards a table with food. "You hungry?"

Rebecca turned and looked before nodding. "When am I not hungry?"

Colby smiled and guided them over to the table. "What kind of job does she have?" When Rebecca furrowed his eyebrows he continued. "Mercedes..."

"Oh. That's a good question." When he laughed Rebecca grabbed a sandwich and ate. "Im pretty sure she's a real estate agent. I mean, this building is called "Real estate agency."

Colby rolled his eyes, grinning at her sarcasm. "Well, i actually didn't read the sign coming in here, so."

The two bickered for another ten minutes about random things before they ended up playing pool with Jonathan and Joseph. "Not much of a dancer?" Joseph asked looking at Rebecca, who was watching her best friends dance away. He then smirked as he watched one of his balls roll into a hole.

Rebecca pressed her lips together and shook her head. "Nah. Im not feeling up to it I guess." She then bent down to figure out which ball she was going to hit. "I'm surprised Jonathan ain't out there. I thought for sure I would get the pleasure of watching you dance."

Jonathan shook his head. "I didn't want to be a distraction. If I was out there, I'd set the dance floor on fire with my sick moves."

Colby laughed and watched Rebecca hit her ball. "Jon, last time I saw you dance, you fell and hit your head."

Jonathan scoffed. "I was 21! I got too drunk that night."

Rebecca laughed as she stood back up. She stood there for a good five minutes listening to the boys argue about that night, and she was about to excuse herself from the conversation, but Ashley came up behind her wrapping her arm around her. "Hey Becks!" She then looked up at the boys. "Care if I borrow my girl for a minute?"

Colby shook his head. "Go have fun Becks. I'll win for us."

Rebecca laughed and walked away with Ashley. "Are you having fun?"

Ashley grinned. "Of course bae! I've already had three rounds of shots..."

Rebecca shook her head as they walked over to Pamela and Mercedes. "Why am I not surprised, Ash..." When they reached the couch, Rebecca smiled at Pam. "Hey, you look cute."

Pam smiled and looked down at her outfit. "Thank you. I went as myself."

Mercedes laughed. "I hope you all have had fun..."

Ashley smiled. "Girl, I know I have!" She then pointed towards Rebecca. "I had to save her from playing pool with the men though..."

"I was actually having fun!" Rebecca said in defense. "I was causing Colby to lose, but I was still having fun."

Pamela laughed. "I've sat hear all night watching everyone drink and dance."

Rebecca furrowed her eyebrows. "Pam... I would have sat with you if I knew you were over here. That's not a fun way to spend Halloween."

Pam shrugged. "Ah, it's alright." She then looked at Rebecca's costume. "I see Colby agreed on Joker and Harley! You look incredible!"

Mercedes nodded. "I said the same thing! They both look so hot!"

Ashley smiled too. "I wish I could dress up with someone..."

Mercedes scoffed. "I asked if you three wanted to go as the power puff girls, and you, Ashley, said you didn't want to dress up in a costume thanks to your period." Then Mercedes laughed. "Which is why you went as Red Riding hood, right?"

Ashley shook her head making the other three laugh. "Hush, woman. I meant as a couple..."

Rebecca shook her head. "You'll find someone Ash. Maybe next year we could all go as a big group! Like Mario characters."

Mercedes grinned. "That sounds fun!"

"We should go trick or treating too!" Pam said.

Ashley shook her head. "Pam, we're not children!"

"I know that, but we could get loads of candy!" She then looked towards Mercedes who had the same expression as Ashley. "Y'all are no fun."

Rebecca laughed as she stood up. "Id be down for some candy." Rebecca winked at Pam. "Im gonna go finish my game of pool, then we'll probably head home."

"Alright. We'll see you at home!" Mercedes said as she walked away.

Rebecca went over to the pool table and watched as Colby smirked at Jonathan—who was shaking his head. "Hey..." Rebecca said kissing his cheek. "Did we win?"

Colby wrapped his arm around her. "Yep." Then he smiled, making his face paint scrunch up to his nose. "And this one is pouting about it."

Jonathan looked back up at him. "I am not!"

Joseph laughed and shook Jon's shoulder. "Whatever you say, man."

Colby then sighed and pulled out his phone. "It's 11. Do you all want to head back home?"

The group then got in Colby's car and left the party to drop Jonathan and Joseph off, then right before midnight, Colby and Rebecca were back at her apartment.

Rebecca sighed as she walked in and kicked off her high heel boots. "My feet are killing me."

When she turned back around, she expected Colby to be doing the same thing, taking his shoes off. But he was just standing there staring at her with a grin on his face. Rebecca grinned, because knew what that look meant, and before they knew it, their costumes were off, and they were having their own Halloween party in Rebecca's room.
