☆Emily's point of view☆
Ever since Yelena got shot I have been thinking about how helpless I felt in that moment when there was a gun pointed at me. Having to watch Yelena fight against someone three times her size was not only terrifying and impressive, but was also a major turn on. It made me think about my own safety and how I don't want to be helpless anymore and have to rely on Yelena to save me at every instance. It's not a fair trade off for her to have to worry about me all the time because I don't know how to defend myself from a crazy fan. So with that in mind I decided I wanted to ask Yelena to teach me some basic self defense. I just don't know how to bring up the topic with her without her becoming anxious or wondering why I would want to learn such things. As a way to distract her and make sure she is in a good mood so I made her favorite food Mac & Cheese for lunch. She was busy working on a case in the apartment so I made my way into her office as a surprise and to make sure she eats. I open the door and see her immersed in something she is reading so she doesn't notice me. Quietly I make my way over to her desk placing the Mac & Cheese in front of her and then I begin massaging her shoulders.
,,You know as a detective I thought you would have had better hearing to protect yourself." I say, while continuing to rub her shoulders. Yelena throws her head back to look up at me.
,,Well, I would hope my girlfriend is not trying to kill me so with you I have my guard down." I give her a quick kiss then move around, so I can sit on her lap.
,,You're right, I would never hurt you. I would miss you too much, but along those lines, I do have a question for you."
,,And what might that be babe?" Yelena says with an eyebrow raised and her hand around my waist so I don't fall.
,,I want you to teach me self defense." I say, then look down. She puts her hand under my chin and makes me look her in the eyes.
,,Why do you want to do that?"
,,Because I don't want to have to depend on you always to protect me from some crazy fan when I'm out in public alone."
,,Well, I will always protect you when I'm with you so that's a promise, but I will teach you some self defense for when I'm not with you because I do still worry about you." Yelena says with a big smile.
,,Really!? You mean it?" I ask with a big smile.
,,Yes, but first did you bring me the Mac & Cheese because you were being nice or to use it as a bribe?" Yelena says with her signature smirk. I let out a nervous laugh, then lean in and give her a kiss. Then I pull away.
,,Can't it be both?" Yelena lets out a big laugh.
,,You really are adorable. I love you so much, we can start the training after we eat, okay? I need a break from this case anyways." Together we eat the Mac & Cheese and then get changed and ready to head out to the gym so Yelena can start my training.
☆Yelena's point of view☆
Emily had asked me to teach her some self defense, at first I was skeptical because I don't see the need for her to know it because I will always protect her but on the other hand it would be good for her to know how to protect herself if anything were to happen when she is alone. Instead of taking her to a normal gym I called the precinct to clear it with the Sergeant that we can use the police training gym that already has the padding required to keep us safe. After getting the all clear we made our way to the precinct so I could train Emily. Once we get to the station Emily asks.
,,What are we doing at your office? I thought you said you needed to get away from the case?" I laugh a little.
,,Babe, you do remember that this building has multiple floors, right? There is a gym that we use specifically for training new agents before they are allowed to go in the field. Now come on, we don't want to waste time." Emily follows my lead as we go into the precinct, there are several fellow officers in the building so I wave to them as we make our way to the gym. I flip the lights on and her eyes light up like a kid in a candy store, it's adorable to see how easily entertained she is.
