This idea is based on something tabithatomas posted on my profile recently... it seems that seed of an idea has germinated in my mind overnight. I hope this is close to what you were thinking of!

Katie is a bit of an introvert. She has friends in the real world, but most of her friends from school didn't stay in touch after they finished; either travelling off to university, or getting jobs and apprenticeships that didn't leave much time to keep up with old friends. But Katie doesn't really mind, because the people she chats with the most are the ones she's only met online.

She spends a lot of time chatting with fans of a popular TV and movie franchise about 'ascended' or 'old ones' living among humans. The series hints that these not-quite-human beings may be the origin of myths about both angels and vampires; they certainly have the power to make humans fear or respect them; and some of them have mind control powers. This seems to be the drive behind a lot of fanfiction. Katie has written some of those stories herself, where some naive mortal (transparently modelled on herself or her friends) attracts the attention of a handsome, brooding ascended. Most of the fanfic she writes would fall under the heading of steamy romance; although she's done a bunch of plain smut as well. But she's a little nervous about that; because almost everything she knows about sex and relationships comes from reading other people's fanfic. There might have been some guys interested in her in school, but she always seemed to miss the unspoken hints, so she's never had a real relationship, and isn't sure if she wants one.

Some time before the story starts, Katie found a way to live out some of her fantasies, in a way. She met someone online, because they were writing similar kinds of smut. And she found that Mistress Matchmaker is an actual hypnotist; so when they do some RP fantasy, Katie can feel like it's really happening. Like the most realistic dream ever. After a while, developing trust between the two of them, Katie admitted to some of her darkest desires; things that she would actually like to experience, but doesn't have the courage to try. And there was a promise made. Some day, those things are going to happen. Katie doesn't clearly remember what she asked for now, so it can come as a surprise, but she knows that sooner or later she's going to find it. The story would slowly introduce these details through a flashback.

The actual start point of the story is a convention. A few of the show's stars and scriptwriters are having an event to promote the launch of a new spinoff; doing autographs, answering questions, and all the usual stuff. And a whole bunch of Katie's online friends are converging on a hotel that's barely an hour from her home by train. She can't resist the urge to meet some of these people. But after a little while, she starts finding it hard to concentrate. There's a guy here, one of the other fanfic authors, who seems to capture the attention of the room every time he speaks. And Katie finds herself fantasising about him, more than any of the characters who usually get her attention. This guy is hot, and has a quiet confidence that she can't ignore. While they're attending a panel with some of the show's stars talking about their favourite fanfic, and the crazies ships they've seen, Katie can't stop staring at the guy sitting near her. Imagining what he could do to her if he had those mind control powers like the ascended.

When he's talking, he seems like a really nice guy. And even when he isn't, Katie finds herself wishing she could get him to talk to her. There's nothing she wants more than this guy asking her to come back to his room. She's drooling over him more than all the fit actors. And she realises that she's read a lot of his stories as well, and would love to have the kind of relationships he dreams up. Her imagination runs away with her at one point, and she can't resist trying to touch herself discreetly at the back of the room... that's when she knows that something more than just instinct is controlling her today.

That's when she remembers something she confessed a long time ago: She wants to experience the over-the-top lust and longing that the characters in her stories start to feel when they're introduced to the character she's matched them to. She wanted to know how it really feels to be helpless to your own desires. And Mistress Matchmaker read up on some of the guys she'd said she might be interested in, based on the things they've talked about online. Her responses today are preprogrammed, and she isn't going to be able to fight against her lust much longer. When the guy of her dreams suggests they should collaborate on a story, and suggests taking some time to brainstorm over dinner, she thinks it's a great excuse to get closer to him. And when subtle flirting is hard, that lust drives her to accompany him back to his room "so we can start writing" and then strip, so there's no way she could possibly be mistaken.

She finds out that this kind of encounter might be more awkward in the real world, but if you follow your desires it can still be incredible. She's also surprised to find herself sending a video of their encounter back to Mistress Matchmaker, who wanted to see for herself, but the feeling of being exposed turns Katie on even more. And she realises that she really does want to spend more time with this guy, whether it's working on a story together or trying out some more of the different positions and kinks that she's read and written about.
