Some time ago. A charming and successful businessman found an unusual relationship. He has two wives; both of whom are utterly devoted to him. Both wives actually work in the company as well, and could be successful leaders in their own right. One is intelligent and traditional; an effective executive who knows how to manage a board meeting, and a devoted housewife. (Nobody knows how she finds the time). The other is powerful, emotional, and creative – the kind of leader who gives the company a stylistic direction, and takes a hand in the day-to-day running of the creative departments. She's also passionate, impulsive, and unpredictable in both her professional and personal life.

Now, they're all very rich as senior figures in a large corporation. But when the company was just growing, both women fell for the owner and could see themselves beside him. They competed for his attention for a while, before one of them proposed an alternative solution – perhaps realising that if she managed to marry the boss, her rival might leave the company, and that would be a poor outcome from a business perspective.

The two women agreed to share their man. They're both hypnotised; watching spirals on VR headsets at regular intervals. This ensures that they remain completely devoted to their husband, can't cheat, can't disobey him (except for fun), and perhaps more importantly, they can't get jealous. And for those two it works.

But this isn't clear at the start of the story. The story is told from the perspective of someone a lot lower down the corporate hierarchy. She always wanted to be an investigative journalist, but couldn't find anything that she could investigate without some backer putting a lot of money behind her; so in her mid twenties, she's resigned to being an office worker. She has a job doing some kind of admin stuff (personnel or accounts, maybe), but hopes someday to get a more creative role. And in the last year or two, she has found that it's quite possible to rise within the company by finding out the secrets of people in the level above. She's found some use for the journalism skills she learned in school; figuring out the right buttons to push to get answers, but she'd never actually publish any of the stuff she learned.

But when she comes into contact with one of the CEO's wives (not knowing that, of course), she quickly realises that something is strange, and does her best to investigate. She gets some more clues, but doesn't know what they add up to. But she knows it must be something really newsworthy; irregularity between a couple of board members at such a large corporation. She digs deeper. She hopes to get something she can sell to a newspaper, so she can get famous. She doesn't mind losing this job if she can get the career she always dreamed of. Her boyfriend, on the other hand, says that if she can prove there's something hinky going on, she should threaten to out people, and ask for a promotion. More pay, less responsibilities.

Everything changes when she gets one of the hypno CDs. She doesn't understand what it is, and keeps trying to decipher it; and to find out why the CEO's wife was trying so hard to hide it. She takes a copy, and then goes to return it to him; hoping that she'll earn his trust that way. And maybe find out if he knows about what his wife is hiding. (I assume that the traditional housewife one is the wife that the public knows about). Then she sees him with his other wife, and wonders if that's what the secret is all about. But then, what's this CD for?

By the time she figures it out, it's already too late. She's completely in love with the guy, devoted to him, and can't lie to him or disobey him. She doesn't even realise how much she's been listening to that thing. So when she comes to confront the CEO, wife, and girlfriend, she thinks she could be promising some big scandal... and she's surprised to find that she is admitting just how little she really knows. But she does admit that she's been listening to the hypnosis thing, and that's when she realises what it's done to her.

Now, we've got a young woman who is completely obsessed with the CEO, and sees herself as his property... but without any of the normal stuff building up their relationship first. So she needs to convince him (and his existing wives) to accept her.
