"No, but Gryffindor is a big game." Adrian spoke, trailing behind Y/n to their Charms class.
"I know, but you've got this. You're a very strong player. And you play fairly, so the victory will be won fair in square because of you." Y/n said with a smile, stopping to pat Adrian on the cheek before walking in to class.
Adrian smiled at the affection, hanging back a moment. Y/n was the one person who didn't judge him immediately for being in Slytherin. He appreciated her and her support greatly.
She never missed a quidditch game in their three years of being friends. She'd help him with his homework so that he doesn't go on academic probation from the team. She'd always stick up for him, the small muggleborn Hufflepuff that she is, when a group of other students would taunt him over his affiliation to his house.
He'd often ask her why she'd hangout with him, especially when it so greatly affected her social standing in the other houses.
"Well," she'd tell him, straightening his robes. "Firstly, you'd be hopelessly lost without me. Secondly, you have character and integrity that doesn't bend for anyone. And thirdly, you're fun. So I stick around for purely selfish reasons."
That afternoon, Y/n had dressed in her brightest shades of emerald, wrapped in Adrain's scarf.
Her boyfriend of two weeks, Marcus Flint, came over to her before the game.
"Hey baby, root for me?" Marcus asked with a smirk.
Y/n gave him a smile. "Always. But...please, no fouls."
Marcus grinned at her plea.
"I make no promises."
Y/n cheered her heart out for Slytherin.
She noticed about fifteen minutes into the game, that Marcus would keep tackling Adrian to get the quaffel, and they are on the same team.
"Come on Adrian! Shake it off!" Y/n called from the stands when Adrian missed a shot.
Marcus whipped his head around to glare at his teammate. He started attacking Adrian more aggressively for the quaffel, so that he never had a chance to score.
Due to this, Gryffindor won the game.
Y/n went to the locker rooms to wait for Adrian and Marcus.
Marcus came storming out first.
"What the hell was that, L/n? I thought we were on the same team here!"
"I was supporting Slytherin, as I said I would." Y/n defended, confused by Marcus' outburst.
"No. You were supposed to be supporting me, your boyfriend." Marcus argued, pointing at himself to punctuate his point.
"But...I have friends on your team, so I supported them too."
"You cheered more for Pucey than you ever did for me!"
Marcus had started yelling, attracting the attention of the Gryffindor team.
"You know what? I supported Adrian, because we've been friends for years. He plays fairly, and you would have won the game if you weren't so self centered!"
Marcus flinched at that comment.
"You chose Pucey, who plays like he doesn't want to win, over me, the captain of the quidditch team?" Marcus seethed between clenched teeth.
"You know what? This actually has nothing to do with Adrian. This is about you." Y/n punctuated her point by jabbing a finger into his chest. "You don't know anything about me. We're always so busy with you, and what is important to you, that we never actually have a relationship. I feel like I'm just your therapist and fangirl, not your girlfriend!"
"We talk about you loads!" Marcus defended.
Y/n rolled her eyes. "Sure we have." She muttered sarcastically. "What is my favorite color?"
Marcus remained silent.
"When is my birthday?"
He rolled his eyes.
She scoffed. "Hell. I bet you don't even know what my eye color is."
"E/c." Adrian said, coming out of the changing rooms.
"Stay out of this, Pucey!" Marcus glared.
"We're done, Marcus. You're too egotistical, self centered and tyrannical for me anyway. We're done." Y/n said, starting to turn away.
She now only noticed the amount of students watching them. She could see Lee Jordan holding a thumbs up for her, half hidden behind Fred and George.
Marcus scoffed. "Oh, we're done?"
"Yes. Like I said." Y/n stated flatly.
"I...I am the best you could ever get. You don't break up with me! I break up with you!"
Y/n paused, watching as Marcus dug himself a deeper grave with his own words.
"What are you going to do now, without me, huh? No one wants you!"
Y/n shrugs. "You know what I'm going to do? I'll let your homeboy hit it."
Y/n turned to Adrian who was behind her and pulled him down by the collar of his robes, smashing her lips to his.
The stunned silence was deafening.
"See you at the party, babe?" Y/n asked Adrain. He nodded vaguely with wide eyes.
"Cheers, Marcus." Y/n said, flipping him off and walking away back to school.
