Summery: Ron is in love with Y/n, but sees her disappearing frequently to unknown places, and Ron assumed she was dating Draco Malfoy, who was also disappearing at random times, only to find out the truth from Harry.

Ron's P.O.V.

Y/n went missing during Potions class. I was worried.

"Did you see Y/n leave?" I whispered to Dean Thomas, my new potions partner.

"No, mate. But it's a tidbit odd that Malfoy's missing too," Dean observes.

I glance around the classroom, and see that in fact, Dean is right. Malfoy wasn't in class either.

I think back to all the times Y/n randomly disappears. She's always missing, along with Malfoy. Merlin, I hope there's nothing going on between them.

After class, I notice Y/n and Malfoy standing against a pillar. Y/n stood on the one side, and Malfoy stood on the other side. They seemed to be in a very deep conversation.

I wonder what its about.

It wasn't the first time I saw them like that, either. Every time Y/n went missing, Malfoy went missing too. And then they're always standing around and talking secretively.

I think they're seeing each other, I've just never had the nerve to ask her about it.

Malfoy is better looking than me, and can offer her more. I can't blame her for liking him. He's a downright git sometimes, but she seems happy with him.

I lug myself up the stairs to the common room, my limbs feeling heavy.

I plonk down on the couch and sigh.

"What's up with you?" Harry asked, coming down the stairs in his Quidditch uniform.

I looked over at him, confused by his attire. Quidditch was only in three hours.

"Nothing." I sigh. Harry pulls a face, and makes a detour from his route to the door, sitting down on the couch across from me.

"Look, you've got a dark cloud above your head. Tell me what's up." Harry said, leaning his broom on his knees.

With a sigh, I begin explaining. "So, I like Y/n."

"That's great! She-"

"She's dating Malfoy. I'm sure of it."

"W-what?"

"They're always sneaking away together and they're standing and looking all cozy together all the time."

"Oh, Ron. You're so wrong." Harry says with a sad smile.

"Whadaya mean I'm wrong? I've seen it with my own two eyes!" I exclaim. Harry shook his head, starting to laugh.

"Okay, first point. Y/n isn't dating Draco."

"How do you know that? Did she say something to you?" I asked, leaning forward slightly.

"Oh, no. Well, Draco's in a relationship with someone else, so he isn't dating her." Harry said with a small smile.

"Who's he with then?" I asked, my curiosity getting the better of me.

"Me, you turdpole."

I blink at Harry. "You...you could have gone for anyone else, hell, Wood would even be an option for you, but you chose Malfoy?"  I'd known Harry was gay since our third year, so this didn't come as too much of a shock to me. I just didn't think he'd be into blondes.

Harry crossed his arms. "Now don't go ripping me a new one. I'm doing you a favor. So Y/n isn't dating Draco, so what the issue then?"

"But...why does she hang out with Draco so much?" I asked, blinking in disbelief.

"Well...she's the only one who knows about our relationship, along with you obviously. She has a nasty habit of walking in at very...inopportune times." Harry explains, pushing up his glasses with a sheepish smile. My brain quickly connects the dots between his statement and the look on his face.

"Ew," I gasp, shaking my head in disbelief.

"Anyway, so she's sort of become Draco's confidant of sorts, because it's a lot of stress being with the chosen one, you know? So they hang out, they talk and stuff, but it's purely platonic between them, I assure you." Harry said with a cheesy grin.

"Now I just feel like an idiot."

"Well, Ron, I hate to be the bearer of bad news," Hermione said, suddenly appearing from the staircase leading up to the girls' dormitories. "You are a moron."

"Oi!"

Harry laughs and shakes his head.

"Y/n ought to be in the library now. Go get your girl, Ron." Harry says, getting to his feet.

I jump to my feet and nod determinedly.

"Yes, I think I will."

"As the only one who understands women among the lot of you," Hermione chimed in. "You have to ask her first. Not just tell her you two are going to date."

"How would you know that girls aren't into that?" I ask.

Hermione clears her throat.

"Blimey, you're a girl aren't you?" I say. In my head, I never truly saw Hermione as a 'girl' like one that I'd go out with type of thing. She'd always been my friend that's in love with Fred. So, in a certain way, I never saw her as a girl, with the feminine charm and allure. She's just never had that charm for me.

"Well spotted, Ronald." Hermione mutters sarcastically and walks away towards the common room door.

"What's up with her?" I ask, turning to Harry.

"You really don't understand women." Harry mutters, placing a hand on my shoulder and walking past me out of the Common room.

I smooth down my hair before taking quick strides down to the library.

When I pushed open the doors, there Y/n sat, a quill tucked behind her ear and her hand was smudged with ink.

I smiled when I saw her looking up at me. A small smile graced her features.

"Hi." I breathed.

"Hi," Y/n greeted back with a smile.

"Can I sit?" I ask, motioning to the chair across from her.

"Sure." Y/n shrugged, putting down her notes that were in her hands. I pulled out the chair, grimacing at the annoying screech it made across the floor.

"So...Y/n, I was wondering, if you'd be interested in...going to Hogsmeade, with me?" I asked. The pauses in between my words each felt like an eternity on their own.

Y/n smiled at me, her eyes cast down to the table.

"Yes, I'd love to, Ron. And for the record, I'm not dating Draco."

"Wait...how did you know-"

"Harry stopped by here before he went to Draco. I'd suggest avoiding the broom closet on the third floor for the next two hours or so."
