You don't know fear until you're pregnant. In your sixth year. With parents who are convinced that you and your boyfriend respected the oath of celibacy that they made you take.
So I didn't tell Fred yet. I'm too scared. Think about it. His parents will freak out, his siblings will freak out, he'll freak out. Everyone will freak out. And then he'll be super mad. And then we're going to break up. And then I don't know what I'd do. It's not like I can bring a baby with me every day to class. I'd have to drop out. I wouldn't be allowed to go to the burrow over the summer, or ever again. I wouldn't see my friends. This baby, is kind of an inconvenience.

Hermoine found me puking my guts out in the girl's bathroom, and Moaning Myrtyle screaming about how I would ruin her toilet.
Hermoine rubbed my back and held my hair. She sat with me on the floor in the girls' bathroom. She's kind. She noticed me holding my abdomen.
"Y/n, are you all right?" She asks. My eyes fill with tears.
"Are you coming down with a big or something? I'll go call Madam Pomfrey to take you to the hospital wing-" she began fretting and standing up.
"No," I mumble, grabbing her wrist, "I know what's wrong with me," I say, avoiding eye contact.
She sits down again, looking puzzled. I take my hand off of my abdomen, and her eyes follow my movements. She puts two and two together.

"Y/n! That's amazing!" She says with a smile. She notices the tears running down my face.
"Y/n?" She asks, pulling me into a hug. I sob into her shoulder.
After a while, I pull away, and wipe my eyes.
Hermoine seems to debate with herself. "Y/n...did you tell Fred?" She asks, and I burst into a fresh wave of tears.
She pulls me into a hug. "Oh God Hermoine! I don't know how to tell him! I can't bring myself to tell Fred," I sob.
"Y/n, I know you don't want to hear this right now, but you have to tell him. He deserves to know," she sighs.
"Hermoine I can't!" I exclaim, scrambling to my feet.
"Y/n, he deserves to know. He's going to find out some how," Hermione says, walking out of the stall.
"Don't you dare say anything!" I plead. Her eyes look hard. "Then you tell him," she says firmly.
"I will, in my own time," I say, trying to sound sincere. I would hide the pregnancy as long as I could and hopefully never have to say anything about it.
"No Y/n. You have to tell him next time you see him, or I'll tell him," Hermione says, and her eyes soften. "Look, if you won't do it for Fred do it for the baby. The baby would want their father to know about them," Hermione says. I nod. She takes my hand and walks out of the bathroom, me in tow. Just our luck. Fred, George, Lee, Ron And Harry are walking this way. Hermione nudges me.

Fred smiles when he sees me, and I give him a strained smile back. He must have noticed, as he gets a look of concern on his face. He breaks away from the group, walking over to me and Hermione. Hermione squeezes my shoulder and slips away.

"Hey, are you okay?" Fred asks, taking my hand.
"Yeah, yeah. I'm fine," I lie. He tilts my chin up, so that my eyes meet his.
"Don't lie to me Y/n. I can see your not fine. Let's go to the common room so we can have some privacy," he says, pulling me towards the common room.
George wolf-whistles after us. "Get some Fred!" He calls. Hermione slaps him on the shoulder.

When we reach the common room, Fred turns to me. "Tell me what's on your mind," Fred said, pulling me down onto the couch next to him. I get up. I stand a few feet away from him. He seems shocked by my behavior.

"Fred, what I'm about to tell you is...shocking. And I completely understand if you want to...you know...do something very drastic...like...break up or something..." I begin, only to be cut off by Fred.
"Wait, Y/n, are you breaking up with me?" He asks, his eyes mirroring his heart breaking.
"No, no! I'm not breaking up with you. I'm...pregnant," I whisper, hoping he didn't catch that last part. Much to my dismay, he did catch it. He sits forward, his elbows on his knees, his hands clutched together, as if he was saying a prayer.
He looks up at me. "I know," he says.
"What?" I ask in disbelief.
"Come on Y/n, I'm your boyfriend. I noticed that you came late every morning for the past few weeks to breakfast. I noticed the slight swelling of your breasts, I notice how you subconsciously rub your stomach when you think. I'm not an idiot you know," he says.
I smile and laugh a little. "But what I can't figure out is why you didn't tell me sooner. It's also kind of obvious that you were hiding it from me," Fred says, lowering his hands. My mouth is dry.
"Fred...I honestly thought...I thought that you'd break up with me," I said, lowering my eyes.
I see Fred stand up. I expect him to say, 'duh I'm gonna leave you, I was just waiting for the right time to make it hurt the most,' but his next words surprise me.
"Y/n, how do you know me?" He asks, his hands in his pockets, his gorgeous amber eyes looking into my e/c eyes.
"In what context?" I asked, unsure of what he wanted from me.
"Like, have I ever backed down from a challenge and run away? Have I ever treated you unfairly, or left you when you needed me most?" He asks, walking over to me.
"No," I say. No on all the accounts. He's even better than the man of my dreams. He's surpassed amazing.
"Then why would you ever think, that I wouldn't want to raise a child, our child, with you? I'm planning on spending the rest of my life with you, so this is a great start," he says, holding me at arms length by my shoulders.
"Well, I don't think our parents will be supportive. And I was scared that you'd break up with me on account of them," I say, avoiding eye contact.
"Oh darling, you know my parents will be thrilled. The rest of the lot will be happy, except maybe Percy, but no one cares why he thinks. And even if they wouldn't be happy, they'd still respect my decision to stay with you," he says, lifting my chin, and pulling me into him gently for a hug.
I smile a bit at his reassurance. "So that means I can still come visit you at the Burrow?" I asked.
"Y/n, we're having a kid together. You better be there," he says with a laugh.
"But what do I do about school? I don't think I can bring a baby to class every day," I sigh.
"Well, if you can't, we can take shifts, or if it is strictly forbidden, we could ask my mother to maybe look after the baby till we graduate," Fred suggested. I nodded. "Okay," I say, smiling. He leans down and kisses me.
"Oh shit," I say. He pulls away slightly. "What? Are you okay? Are you hurt? Should I go get Madam Pomfrey-"
"No! Calm down Weasley! We have a problem," I say.
"What?" He asks.
"My parents," I say with a laugh.
"Oh yeah. I forgot about that oath like a year ago," he said with a laugh.
"They're going to be so pissed," I giggle. He starts to laugh with me. Fred rests his forehead on mine. "Don't worry. They'll come round, eventually," he says with a smile.
"Yeah. Let's give them ten years or so," I joke. We laugh.
It feels good to have him know, and have a plan of action. Ultimately, I know we're going to be okay. We're going to be a family.
