It's summer. Summer is my favorite season. I get to spend the long days lying in the sun. It's wonderful.

I chose to spend my days in a field. This field is at the back of my family manor. We also just so happen to share the same field with the Black family. We have a wooden fence that separates us.

My friend Sirius and I spend our days outside in the field, talking about life and Hogwarts and everything.

I await his presence in our field. He's late today. He better have a good excuse. We're losing precious daylight.

I see my friend approaching. His raven black hair and tanned skin contrasts greatly with the golden grass around him. His face is turned down, and he's wearing a long sleeve, with his hands tucked in his pockets. Odd behavior. Even for him.

"Hey Y/n," he greets as he nears me. He doesn't lol up from my shoes, or remove his hands from his pockets. I hop onto the fence, resting me feet on the lower slat.
"Hey Sirius," I greet. I can't see his face. I can only see his mop of black hair. It's odd. "You okay?" I ask. He doesn't hop onto the fence next to me. He doesn't even answer.
"Sirius?" I question. I swing my legs over to his side of the fence. I rest my hand on his shoulder and he flinches.
I jump off the fence, the force reverberating through my knees. I don't care at this moment. I'm too worried about my friend.
I lift his chin slightly with my hand. His beautiful eyes look dark, like he has lost his fight. And judging from the bruises on his face, I assume he had lost a fight.
"Oh my Merlin! What in Godric's name happened to you?" I ask.
"See, this is why I didn't want to show you. You'd flip out," he said with a sigh.
"Oh my word Sirius! Of course I'm going to flip out! It looks like you ran into the wrong wall at the platform, and you were pushed out of the train while it was moving," I fuss, and push his hair back from his neck, to see even more cuts and bruises. I grumble at him, and check his arms, rolling up his sleeves. For sure, there are more bruises.
"What did you do? Get into a fight?" I asked, concerned but angry.
"Yeah, but you should have seen the other guy," he tried joking. I roll my eyes. "I'm serious Sirius," I sighed.
"No, my name's Orion," he jokes, pulling his arm away from mine.
"That's your middle name you dumb twat," I sneer.
"What the hell did you do? No jokes, no games, or I'm leaving," I threaten. He seems to consider what I said.
"Fine. It's nothing really. It's just my mother's way of showing...love and affection," he winces at the last words.
"Love and affection my fucking ass. Why does she do this?" I ask, taking his hand in mine. He smiles down at our hands.
"N/n, you know why," he says with a sad smile.
"Because. She doesn't like that I don't agree with their values. And we ran out of Dittany and no one could be bothered to get any more, so I can't just heal it over," he said with a shrug. "That and the fact that she's trying to arrange a marriage for me into a respectable pure blood family, and I said no."
"Sirius, sometimes I think you're a sucker for punishment," I say with a sigh.
"Say L/n, you're from a respectable pure blood family. What do you say to getting married?" He suggests.
"Oh goodness Sirius, we'd kill each other," I say with a laugh. I hop back onto the fence and he hops on next to me.
"That's part of the fun isn't it?" He says with a smirk.
"Pass the idea with my parents. Then we can talk," I joke.
"Okay," Sirius swings his legs over to my side of the fence and hops off, and starts walking in the direction of the house.
"Sirius I was kidding!" I call after him, running to catch up.
"Well I wasn't," he says with a grin, and starting to jog towards the house.
I stop and shake my head at him. Y/n Black. It has kind of a ring to it.
