I sit in the library, desperately trying to figure out the History of Magic essay in front of me. I'm fed up with myself. I'm literally in the very building that I have to write a essay on, but I have no idea what to write. I can't even write about my own house common room, because I don't know about it's history. I'm the worst student ever, and I clearly seem to have zero house pride.
I tried to get Hermione to do my essay. I offered her five galleons. She refused. Heck, I even asked Malfoy to do it, but naturally the little toad refused. So now I have to do it myself. I excel in every other subject. Potions, easy. Charms, no problem. But History of Magic? I'd sooner chew off my own foot.
The library door pushes open, and my best friend George Weasley waltzes in. I raise an eyebrow at him. He comes to sit by my table, right across from me.
"Can I help you?" I quip, resting my head on my parchment.
"What, can't I come sit with my best friends and offer her my services?" George asks, looking mock-offended.
"No offense, but someone who is illiterate cannot help me write an essay," I joke and George pulls a face.
"Look. I can help. I've brought something to show you the inner most workings of Hogwarts. And then I'll fetch you the books and you can read the essay to my magic quill, and it will write it for you," George says with a grin. This fool is an evil genius.
"Fifteen and already finding poop holes to the system, I like it," I smirk. He smiles. "Of course you do. It's one of my best traits," he says. I laugh at his comment. I notice a piece of parchment lying on the table in front of us. George notices me looking and pulls out his wand. "I solemnly swear that I am up to no good," he says, and the parchment immediately turns into a map. George shows it to me. It's a map of Hogwarts, but it's moving.
"This map shows the movement of everyone in the castle, every single minute of every single day. Neat huh?" He says, with a gloating smile.
I nod.
"Start with the Great Hall. And then work your way through the houses and classrooms. Then go on to the grounds, and if you still need more words, use some of the secret passageways. But nothing that Fred and I use. So use only three of them. The ones coming out of the Whomping Willow you can use," George says, getting up.
I stare at the map in awe. George comes back and sets at least twenty books on the table and starts walking away.
"Wait where are you going? Please say not to get more books," I say, looking at the monstrous pile in front of me.
"Oh no. I'm going to go to Quidditch practice," he says.
"Wait I thought you were going to help me!" I call after him as he leaves.
"I already helped! Now you get to work!" He calls, shutting the door behind him.
I know he's my best friend. I know it is weird to have a crush on him. But I just can't help myself. He's kind, caring, a pain in my ass, but he's my pain in the ass. I don't want to make our friendship weird. I don't want to ruin a good thing, so I'll keep my feelings to myself. Till the day I die.
