She told me I can chose what to do, so buckle up kiddies

"Hey Zambini," I hear a voice speak from above me. I groan internally. Why does this boy have it out for me? I'm just trying to read in peace.

"Yes Potter?" I sigh, not even looking up from my book. For some or other reason, he assumed that was invitation for him to plop onto the chair  next to me.

"Why did you get sorted into Ravenclaw when both of your parents were in Slytherin?" He asked, and I heard his chair shift closer to mine. I scooted mine away, so that we were the same distance apart as before. "Gee, I don't know, maybe because I have brain cells? And our common room has an enchanted ceiling, so there's that," I say, flipping to the next page.

James is silent for a few seconds. "Why don't you show me some time?" He asked, shifting his chair closer. I could feel the blush creeping up my neck, and I shift my chair away again.

"Well, you can't get in. You're too dense to get into the Ravenclaw common room," I say, staring intently at my book in desperate hopes of not having to look up.

He sighs. "That's not what I meant, you know what, doesn't matter. I'd like to get to know you," he said, and I could hear the smirk in his voice.

"James, you already know me, we're talking right now aren't we?" I say, trying my best to sound bored, and not look up from the words printed in my book.

"You're so difficult," he said, taking the book from my hands, and slamming it shut.

"James are you serious? How will I ever find my page?" I screech. James smirks.

"Serious is my middle name. And you fold the pages when you read, so you will find your place don't worry."

I roll my eyes. "What is so urgent that you have to disturb me for?" I sigh, collecting my things. I reach for the book, but James slides it across the table, just out of my reach.

"Has anyone ever told you that you are undeniably gorgeous?" He asked, staring deeply into my eyes.

"Yes actually, on the daily. You'd be the third person in the last hour," I say, reaching for my book. James' face falls.

"Who said it?" He asked, hurt or anger lacing his tone. I couldn't quite place which it was.

"Irrelevant. Give me back my book," I say, reaching for my book again. James stands up suddenly, causing me to move back to avoid colliding with him.

"If you want it," he said, holding the book above his head and taking a few steps backwards, "Come and get it," he said, taking off in a run.

I groan, and run after him out of the library. I chase him up the stairs to the astronomy tower.

"Glad you finally made it," James said, leaning against the railing, my book still in hand.

"Fuck Quidditch," I say out of breath. James is only faster because of Quidditch. And that is why I lost him going up the stairs to the tower.

James grins. He holds out my book to me. I walk over, angry and wanting my book back.

As I reach for the book, he pulls the book back, looping his arm around my waist, knocking my right foot out from under me, so that my weight falls against him, and he holds the book out behind his head.

"Give it back Potter!" I say, almost climbing over him to reach it.

He uses his head to turn mine, and plants our lips together. My brain turns to mush, my book all but forgotten. His simple action made me feel beautiful, strong but delicate. In this moment I knew that this boy adored me, and I adored him.

He pulls away, wincing as if awaiting a slap from me. Instead, I smile, and grab my book from his hand.

"Thanks," I say, standing on my own two feet. James looks slightly dejected.

I smirk and pull his face down to mine, and kiss him again.

"I love you moron," I whisper against his lips, and pull away, and take off running, book in hand.
