Warning guys, this mentions self harm. And I'm changing up the imagine as well. But if you guys need someone to talk to about this type of stuff, my door is always open <3

"Homework in my class is compulsory. It must be completed," Snape said, his arms crossed, leering down at Y/n.

"Detention. This evening after dinner," Snape says, and Y/n looks down at her desk. Her eyes starts to water and Snape moves away from her desk.

Snape continues teaching the class, and Y/n stares blankly at her notes.

The reason Y/n hadn't done any of her work was because she couldn't. She felt too down to do it. She could barely move from her bed. Nothing made it better. Her meds didn't help anymore.

Y/n left the class, and ran to the girls' bathroom. Moaning Myrtyl never bothered her here. They seemed to both be in equal despair.

Y/n sat on the bathroom floor for goodness knows how long. She didn't have the energy to get up, till the hunger was gnawing at her stomach.

Staggering to her feet, she made it to the dinner feast at the Great Hall, just as all the other students were flowing in to the hall. Even surrounded by all of these people, she had never felt so alone.

Taking her seat at the (House) table, Y/n put some food on her plate, and pushed it around a bit with her fork. She didn't like all the noise in the hall.

Soon, all the people started to file out, and she did too. The voice in her head reminded her of her detention with Snape. Cursing herself for not just being able to do her homework, she made her way to the Potion Master's class.

She took her regular seat, right in the middle of the class. That seat was supposed to give her anonymity. Now, it did nothing to shield her from the Professor's intense glare.

"Miss L/n," he drawled.

Y/n felt accused of something, just by the way he had said her name. Maybe he was accusing her of existing.

"Yes Professor?" She said, daring herself to glance up from the wood of her desk at least to the Professor's feet.

Snape was much closer to her than she had first anticipated.

"What is that on your arm?" He asked. Y/n was taken aback. No one ever noticed, let alone asked her so bluntly.

"I-it's nothing...sir," she added hastily. Snape didn't seem to believe her.

"It's not nothing. I did that too when I was your age. Felt as if I was in control," Snape said, moving back over to his desk. Y/n was shocked. Her Professor had...done this?

"Why do you do it?" Snape asked, his stare almost curious.

"I-it helps. Takes the pain away," Y/n said, fiddling with her fingers.

"I have something that may help if you'd like to be able to stop. It doesn't take away the pain, it just takes away the need to cut," the Potions Master said, reaching into one of his desk drawers, and pulling out a vial of purple liquid.

Y/n gets up from her desk and walks over to Snape holding out the potion to her.

"If that doesn't work, take this. Draw on your arm. Push as hard as you have to. It simulates the pain without breaking the skin," he said, handing Y/n a blue ballpoint pen. Y/n took it, and examined it in her hands.

"And take this. If you don't want to talk to anyone about what your feeling, write it down. You need to get the feelings out," Snape said, handing Y/n a journal. It was thick, with completely blank pages.

"And if you feel a panic attack coming, ground yourself. Observe what is around you. What do you see, hear, taste, smell and feel, and describe it to yourself in detail," Snape said, and Y/n nodded along.

"Detention dismissed," Snape said, and Y/n looked up quickly.

"Thank you, Professor," she said, and took her bags and started walking to the door.

"Oh, and Miss L/n?" Snake called after her.

She turned on her heel, and glanced back.

"If you don't do your homework in my class, just write a note and explain what happened. I don't want to give you detention for my ignorance."

"Thank you, Professor."

Y/n left the potions class that evening, feeling like she finally had a fighting chance and a foot to stand on against her mind.

Ya'll, hear me out about this imagine. I'm not glorifying mental illness, saying you need a knight in shining armor to solve your problems or cure you of your mental illness or whatever. You can be your own knight in shining armor, and slay your own dragon. The tips in here are valid and they work, especially the grounding technique. I talk a friend through her attacks all the time, and we use these techniques. Cause the worst thing is to go through this alone. Slaying the dragon isn't easy. Sometimes you just need some back up, and that okay. You're not burdening anyone else by asking for help.

Just thought ya'll should know :)
