2010 - Season 6 shooting TW
"I said what I said" I had folded my arms, a stance I took often when trying to argue my point for something. And one of these Mercy West doctors stood in the same damn stance as me, his eyebrows furrowed in annoyance.
"I just don't appreciate patients complaining about me to my Chief behind my back, especially ones who speak their mind so freely. If you've got a problem, tell me" I sighed.
"Fine, I have a problem with you and your friends Doctor Avery"
"Why?"
"Because you guys could have killed me if Doctor Bailey or Doctor Karev hadn't been there, and you personally accused Doctor Karev and me of having sex in an on-call room. Plus you insulted me by assuming I had a 'nice rack' when I had a double mastectomy four years ago" He floundered for a moment. "Besides, I only told Chief Shepherd I didn't want you assisting in my surgery or being assigned my case anymore. I even stopped Doctor Karev before he blurted out what you'd done" His floundered look knitted itself into confusion.
"You did?" I rolled my eyes.
"Yes, I did. Singling you out would have only made it seem like I cared about you, or the others. And I don't. You're a bunch of aliens as far as I'm concerned and I trust doctors who know me. You don't know me" Doctor Avery and I engaged in a stare-off of sorts and he eventually sighed and unfolded his arms.
"Well, I'm sorry. But I was assigned your case and you bet your ass I'm going to keep monitoring you and discharge you the minute I can" I rolled my eyes.
"Great, another thing to complain about. Although seeing as Shepherd allowed this, I might have to go above his head to get something done" Doctor Avery snorted.
"Like who?"
"Whoever is above Chief Shepherd, obviously"
"Good luck with that Taylor"
"I'd prefer it if you called me Miss Dawson" I said coldly.
"Fine. I'll be back to check on you after lunch. Miss Dawson" He turned and left, causing me to groan and throw my head back. Gently, of course. I had just had open heart surgery after all. Soon there was a knock on my door and I opened my eyes to find Teddy Altman walking in. I forced a smile on my face.
"Doctor Altman" She smiled back warmly.
"Hi Taylor, how are you feeling?"
"Physically fine, I could go for a new post-op doctor though" She pouted.
"I'm sorry, I know you said no Mercy West doctor's but the merger meant some cuts from both ends and we can't spare any of the Seattle Grace doctors." I sighed and nodded.
"Okay, I get it. Can you let Chief Shepherd know that if this Doctor Avery offends me again that I'm going to make sure he's fired?" Doctor Altman laughed.
"I wouldn't expect anything less from you Taylor. Now, how are you feeling after surgery, not about your doctor" I smiled, albeit tiredly.
"Just another surgery Doctor Altman. I feel fine, lethargic but still a little high" She laughed.
"And the pain?"
"Breathing is a little heavy, what with the lungs that aren't mine and all. I'll keep on the oxygen for now, it's helping" She nodded.
"Good. The surgery went well and that valve should last you right into your eighties"
"Only my eighties? I'm gonna live to 103 don't you know"
