I opened my inbox and saw the email that sat there. This was the moment when I found out if I was a board-certified surgeon or not.

Jo and Steph both started cheering and screaming. Ben was laughing. Everyone was congratulating everyone. Except me. I was frozen in place, I wasn't able to even open it, let alone read it. I felt someone behind me.

"Open it"

"Jackson"

"Just open it, Tay, find out. Please" I looked at him and he nodded. I nodded back, opening the email. I closed my eyes and thrust my phone at Jackson.

"I can't do it. You read it, please?" I felt Jackson's hand take my phone out of my own, his other hand resting on the small of my back.

"Open your eyes, Tay, you passed" I opened them wide.

"I-I did?"

"Not only did you pass, you scored in the top 1%. You got the third-highest mark of the day Dawson" I looked around at everyone, looking just as wide-eyed and shocked as I did.

"Oh, my god. Oh my god!"

"Congratulations Taylor, that's amazing!" Jo said. I smiled and looked at Jackson.

"I told you it was all gonna work out Dawson" I threw my arms around him right then and there, not really caring about anything or who saw.

"Thank you, for believing in me" He smiled. Without a glance at anyone who was around, I tip-toed up and pressed a kiss to his cheek.

"Ahem, uh, well. Well done everyone, this is great. Dawson, excellent work. Now why don't you all head home and take the night off? Avery, you can go too. We'll page you if we need you" Owen said. When Owen and Richard left, I groaned.

"I can't believe I just kissed you in front of them!" Jackson chuckled.

"Well, Jo and Steph already knew so it was only a matter of time 'til everyone else found out. I'm going to take Hunt up on his offer and take you home. Get changed."

"Yes sir" Jackson left, and I looked to the other three residents.

"So, you and Avery, huh?" Ben said with a chuckle. I laughed as well.

"Me and Avery alright. I'd better change and go with him, or he will leave me here overnight"

"You ladies enjoy your night. I'm going to go find my wife and tell her the good news"

"I'll go find Alex too, I think. See you guys later" Jo said, leaving with Ben. Steph and I began to get changed.

"Are you okay?" Steph asked.

"A lot happened on that trip"

"Yeah, no kidding. We could tell something was up as soon as the exam was done. Taylor, you turned your phone off. If you hadn't answered the door, we would have been seriously worried" I turned.

"April told Jackson she wants to try their relationship again. He told me the night before on the phone. I got a job offer at UCLA Reagan for a trauma fellowship. And one of my moderators used to work there with me and tried to get me fired three years ago for having cancer" I admitted. Steph's eyes went wide.

"Well, at least you know that moderator wasn't out to get you. Your results were phenomenal" I smiled.

"And the other stuff?"

"LA isn't too far away if you decide to go. And I think Jackson is smarter than anyone gives him credit for. He may have been dumb enough to let a good thing go in the past. But each time he has, it's been to get something better. And honestly? I don't think there's anyone better for him than you" I smiled.
