Chapter 4 "I wonder if he felt the invisible string thread attaching us, too, if he chased me because I tugged at it. Because it hurt when one of us got too far away"
I come home to an empty house, I let out a deep sigh. Thanking god I have the house to myself and not having to deal with my mother. I walk to my room and before opening the door I noticed a note on my door
'Leaving for a couple of days, be back soon
The note read in my mom's crappy handwriting, she does this often, it's not the first nor is it the last time. I've gotten used to it, it's better than the beatings.
I text the girls, Evelyn and Violet. Letting them know my mom is out
The girls💝: Stells: Mom is out for a couple of days, so sleepover!?
I text them in our group chat we have for us only, and instantly they reply
The girls💝: Eve<3: Hell yes Violet<33: Yes! Stells: Great see you in a few!
I put my phone on my desk and let it charge, I change into a pair of sweatpants and my hoodie, it's my after-school clothes.
After I'm finished I start doing my homework but I don't get very far because the doorbell rings, I get up and walk down to the door. I open it and eve and Letty with big smiles that make me smile too, we hug each other as if we hadn't seen each other in ages but in reality, it was only just a few hours ago.
I let them in and they put their bags on the couch
"So guys..." I start violet and Evelyn gives me their attention, I begin again "Mason is going to the party" I say, they give me shocked faces "for me" I tell them quietly, their jaw drops "what?!?"
"Tell us exactly what happened!" Evelyn says excited and I start from the beginning
"Okay, the class was over and then he waited for me to get my stuff we walked to my car and I asked if he was going to the party, and he didn't say anything but asked me if I was and I said yes and then he said okay me too" I finished out of breath
Evelyn and violet turn to look at each other with smiles on their face and then scream "omg!!!!" Violet starts first "he likes you!!! The bad boy likes the sweetheart!!!" Eve continues, I look at them strangely
I don't think it's possible, he wouldn't like me. I mean could he? It's honestly insane to of it.
"I don't know guys, I don't think he does," I say with a frown and look away.
